CHELSEA VS LEEDS MATCH ANALYSIS
The capital side has been scoring goals for fun in all competitions recently, and summer signings are starting to pay off. Timo Werner and Havertz look impressive, and Hakim Ziyech seems to be helping the team improve their game. They are now undefeated in 14 matches in all competitions and have won six games out of the last seven. In the PL they have won their last four fixtures, but are unbeaten in the last eight, which put them in the 3rd place in the table with 19 points and could finish the weekend in 1st if the results go their way. As for Leeds, the win against Villa in the 6th round pushed the Whites up the table to 3rd, albeit shortly, as they slipped down to 12th, with 14 points. After two shocking 4-1 defeats against Leicester and Crystal Palace in London – they have bounced back with a goalless draw against Arsenal at home and a tough away win against Everton.
Chelsea shipped 54 goals last season, more than any other top ten teams, but have invested heavily in attacking options rather than defensive reinforcements, which is proving like the right decision as the season unfolds. Having in mind that it is at the back where they are most vulnerable, Lampard will be pleased that they have kept the clean sheet in five of their last six league games, most recently against Tottenham at home (0-0). They have also sealed the early last 16 qualifications, so they are awaiting Leeds in a splendid mood.
As for their most recent draw against the Spurs, it was a highly-competitive yet goalless London stalemate. Chelsea were looking to celebrate Roman Abramovich's 1,000th game as club owner with a win over Spurs, but they struggled to create clear-cut chances although Hugo Lloris produced a great late save to deny Mason Mount. The Blues were unable to unlock Tottenham's solid defense, but Lampard’s men are making progress, as they are unbeaten in the top-flight since 20 September.
Leeds, on the other hand, are surely looking to establish themselves back in the Premier League, after a 16-year absence from English football's top flight. The Villa result in round 6 lifted Leeds to third for a short while, which is their highest position at the end of a day in the top-flight since September 2002. However, after back-to-back 4-1 defeats against Leicester and Crystal Palace, they fell down the pecking order. The goalless draw against Arsenal, lifted their spirits a bit before they properly bounced back with a win at the Goodison.
They earned their first win in four games by beating Everton in a thrilling match thanks to Raphinha's long-range strike. The Brazilian finally broke the deadlock after the two sides had created plenty of chances in a game that was only missing more goals. Despite being promoted last season, Leeds have already established themselves as one of the most entertaining teams in the Premier League. They will be up for the win in London, and Lampard should make sure not to underestimate the visitors.

This will be the first league meeting between the sides since a 1-0 win for the Blues at Stamford Bridge in May 2004. The Blues have been producing a fine display in the elite competition and only Tottenham (9) are on a longer unbeaten run in the league than Chelsea (8). They have also kept more clean sheets than any other team (5). On another positive note, Frank Lampard should have a full squad to choose from against Leeds.
The Whites, on the other hand, did well to beat Everton at Goodison as Marcelo Bielsa’s men continue to impress on their return to the English top flight. Chelsea are likely to pose a much bigger threat for the visitors than their previous rivals, but Leeds have won three of their five Premier League away games this season (L2), as many as they had in the whole of their previous PL campaign in 2003-04.
