Chelsea meet Leicester at the Wembley Stadium (London) in the FA Cup Finals and the match kicks off at 5.15 pm (UK) on Saturday, May 15. Read our reasons for Chelsea vs Leicester prediction and betting tips.
Leicester and Chelsea will compete in this year’s FA Cup final on May 15 after both edged their semi-final clashes 1-0 at Wembley. The Blues reached a fourth showpiece in five seasons after upsetting a lacklustre Man City thanks to Hakim Ziyech’s goal, presenting Thomas Tuchel with his first chance to win silverware since taking over as manager in January. On the other hand, the Foxes qualified for this stage after a fairly tedious semi-final victory over Southampton which saw Kelechi Iheanacho score with the only shot on target in the entire match. Leicester may be particularly cautious in their first final since 1969 – especially having lost on all four previous appearances in deciders.
Chelsea have been so solid in defence under Thomas Tuchel regardless of who has been in the team. The Blues like to take charge of games early and rarely look like relinquishing control once they are in front. Only champions Man City have been leading at both half-time and full-time in more games than Chelsea, who had been ahead at the break in their last nine league wins prior to their comeback at Etihad Stadium last weekend.
It was the same in their Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid and we expect a similar performance at Wembley. Chelsea have only conceded one goal in five games in this competition as they seek to go one better than last year and lift the trophy for the ninth time and for the second time in three years, having also done so in 2018 when Eden Hazard’s penalty was enough to see them past Manchester United.
As for Leicester, they have never won the FA Cup and are considered outsiders to finally break that duck 52 years after they last reached the final. These teams have recent history in the FA Cup, with Chelsea winning a fourth-round tie when they met in January 2020 and a quarter-final match in 2018, both at King Power Stadium. However, league clashes have told a different story. Leicester are unbeaten in six top-flight clashes against the Blues (D4) and will hope to carry that form to Wembley next month.
Leicester have been beaten in all four of their previous finals but will go into this contest buoyed by January’s league win over Chelsea, which led to Frank Lampard’s dismissal soon after. Leicester have won just four of their 15 games played at Wembley stadium (D1 L10). Following their victory against Southampton in the semi-final, the Foxes will be aiming to win back-to-back matches at this venue for just the second time previously doing so when winning the 1994 and 1996 second-tier play-off finals.

When Chelsea meet Leicester it will be their 15th FA Cup final, with only Arsenal (21) and Manchester United (20) reaching Wembley on more occasions. Indeed, only the Gunners (14) and the Red Devils (12) have won the trophy on more occasions than Chelsea (8). On the other hand, this will be Leicester’s fifth appearance in an FA Cup final and their first since 1969. The Foxes have lost all four previous finals, the most appearances a side has made in the competition’s showcase without ever winning the trophy.
Given the options they have off the bench and the extra experience they have of the big occasions Chelsea are deemed favourites, but after edging closer to securing the top-four after a 3-1 win against Man Utd on Tuesday night. Leicester may be encouraged to take a less cautious approach.
BettingKick’s Chelsea vs Leicester prediction is under 2.5 goals as we expect a tight encounter.
