Chelsea host Leicester at Stamford Bridge (London) in the 37th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8.15 pm (UK) on Tuesday, May 18. Read our reasons for Chelsea vs Leicester prediction and betting tips.
Chelsea have vengeance firmly in mind after a defeat to Leicester in Saturday’s FA Cup final, but Leicester can come closer to sealing a second Champions League spot since their promotion to the Premier League in 2014 with a victory at Stamford Bridge. A Chelsea win will see them move a point above Leicester going into the final weekend, but they also face losing successive home games ’to nil’ for the first time since Dec 2019 - and only the second time under Roman Abramovich’s ownership. New FA Cup holders Leicester have recorded five wins in seven (W5, D1, L1), and won 2-1 in their last league game against a fellow top-four team Man Utd. A second win against the Blues in the span of four days will all but secure third place for the Foxes.
Even after a FA Cup Final loss, the Chelsea supporters will surely look back with fondness on a day when for the first time in over a year there was a real football atmosphere, with the reduced-capacity crowd filling the 90,000-capacity stadium with noise. Chelsea dominated the first half but struggled to create major openings, even after Leicester lost their centre half, Jonny Evans, to injury in the 34th minute. Tuchel now still has a chance of lifting silverware when Chelsea face Man City in the Champions League final on May 29 in Porto.
Meanwhile, the battle to finish in the top four this season looks set to go down to the wire as we edge closer and closer towards the finish line. For Chelsea, who were beaten 1-0 in the FA Cup final by Leicester at Wembley at the weekend, their fate rests in their own hands, as they know two wins from their two remaining matches would secure a top-four place and CL football for next season. However, any slip-ups could be pounced upon by West Ham United, Liverpool, Tottenham, or even Everton, all of whom still have a chance of bagging a top-four berth.
As for the Foxes, Youri Tielemans’ stunning second-half strike steered four-time runners-up Leicester to their first-ever FA Cup title. Chances were few and far between in a cagey first half but the match opened up dramatically after the break and Tielemans became the first Foxes player to score in an FA Cup final since Ken Keyworth in 1963 with a 63rd-minute piledriver that proved to be the winner. Leicester, who made history by winning the Premier League title five years ago will now hope to cap off a fine season by hanging on to their top-four place.
Leicester, who are third with two games left before visiting Chelsea in the league on Tuesday, have shown a talent for disrupting the big clubs. Despite Leicester’s fine work this season, with memories of last year’s disappointing end of the season still vivid, they can ill-afford to lose this crucial fixture. However, that they’ve managed to defy gravity since winning the league, stay as one of the top teams in England, and have added a major trophy to their collection, changes their story, from flukey winners to serial champions.

Chelsea meet Leicester having not recorded a win in their last six Premier League outings against the Foxes, though four of these games have ended level (L2). Leicester had lost 9 of 11 league meetings with the Blues prior to this run (W1, D1).
For both teams there’s a lot at stake here. The Foxes are in brilliant form and should be confident here after the FA Cup win, while Chelsea would like to get back to winning ways after losing back-to-back games by a single goal margin and not finding the net in both.
A close contest is expected and the BettingKick’s Chelsea vs Leicester prediction is: Under 2.5 goals
