This weekend Chelsea host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in a clash between two potential title contenders. It's Chelsea's first home match of the 20/21 Premier League season and the match kicks off at 4.30pm (UK) on Sunday, September 20.
Last weekend Chelsea expectedly opened their campaign with a 1-3 away win against Brighton, with their new summer additions looking at home in the Premier League from the first whistle. But against Liverpool this weekend we will probably get the reasonable idea where Chelsea and their new signings are at when they take on the defending champions.
Liverpool were also back in action after lifting their first title in 30 years. They welcomed the newly promoted Leeds, led three times, but Bielsa's side came back on each occasion only to concede a penalty late in the game and finish empty-handed. It was a reminder of Liverpool's last season's final day match against Chelsea when they won 5-3 at Merseyside, and if Chelsea were watching they will be confident they can outscore the champions this time.
Frank Lampard said his revamped Chelsea team have the belief and are determined to be up there with Manchester City and Liverpool until the very end of this campaign. Last season they have finished 33 points behind Liverpool and lost both fixtures against them, but the players they have brought in and the money they have spent can help them make huge strides this season.
Against Brighton, Lampard started Werner and Havertz, two of their new signing, while left-back Chilwell was out injured and Silva has only recently resumed training. It will be an imperative for Chelsea to have that defensive duo on the pitch as soon as possible because they still look vulnerable at the back. And while everything is peachy up front, another defensive issue for Lampard, although he won't admit it, is the continuation of last year's poor form of their first goalkeeper Kepa, who was admittedly shaky against Brighton again.
As for Liverpool, their supporters have been concerned with a relative lack of spending and transfer activity for the second year in a row. Unlike Chelsea, who brought in 200 million pounds worth of world-class players, the Reds have signed only Tsimikas, left-back depute for Andy Robertson. However, Klopp insists that he is satisfied with working with a small group of players and that quality of the players is much more important to him than the size of the squad.
Against Leeds on Saturday Liverpool got over the line thanks to Salah's brilliance and some unfortunate Leeds defending. Liverpool were also often sloppy at the back, cut open too often, and even otherwise imperious Van Dijk had an off-game by his standards. Attacking-wise though, the Reds still have a formidable trio of Salah, Mane and Firmino, who can rescue them from any potential loosing scenario.

Liverpool completed a league double over Chelsea last season, but Chelsea won in the FA Cup fixture in March. Both teams are loaded with attacking options and their previous match-ups suggest there will be plenty of goals at both ends. Also, their previous head-to-head record says both sides scored on 15 out of their last 20 outings, so a clean sheet is very unlikely for either team.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
