Chelsea host Sheffield Utd at Stamford Bridge (London) in the FA Cup Quarter-finals and the match kicks off at 1.30 pm (UK) on Sunday, March 21. Read our reasons for Chelsea vs Sheffield Utd prediction and betting tips.
Following a 2-0 Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid in midweek, Chelsea are unbeaten in 13 matches under Thomas Tuchel across all competitions (W9, D4). This represents the longest unbeaten start to a tenure by any manager in the club's history, with Tuchel bettering Luiz Felipe Scolari's 12-game unbeaten start in 2008, making them a near-certainty to proceed to the FA Cup semi-finals for the fourth time in five seasons. On the other hand, Sheffield Utd have already emulated their FA Cup run of last season, when the quarter-finals saw a last-gasp goal seal their elimination to the eventual cup winner Arsenal. Sheffield United made the controversial decision to sack Chris Wilder and they lost 5-0 to Leicester in their first match without him. This is the only thing left for them to play for this season, but against an in-form Chelsea, their chances are slim if non-existent.
Hakim Ziyech and Emerson Palmieri struck as Chelsea dispatched 10-man Atletico Madrid 2-0 in Wednesday’s last-16 second-leg clash at Stamford Bridge. The 3-0 aggregate win against the leaders of La Liga secured a first Champions League quarter-final since 2014 and the Blues have now gone almost 10 hours of play since conceding at Southampton in February. However, despite their impressive run, Chelsea are yet to score more than two goals in a game under Tuchel and may not be quite at their best if the manager, as expected, rotates his squad.
Impressively, Chelsea have conceded just 2.23 shots on target per game across Tuchel’s first 13 outings as the Blues’ boss and the Blues’ return of just one goal conceded from three FA Cup games this season is a further plus. After losing last year’s FA Cup final, Chelsea will now be eyeing another trip to Wembley. They last lifted the trophy in 2018 but will be high on confidence after success in the elite European competition in midweek.
Meanwhile, Cup games have hardly given any impetus to the Blades as Premier League strugglers but it could prove a tough afternoon for them at Stamford Bridge. The FA Cup may give the Premier League’s bottom side some respite, but it is hard to take any positives from last Sunday’s 5-0 defeat at Leicester. That result came after boss Chris Wilder’s departure and, as United failed to manage a single shot on target at the King Power, another difficult afternoon beckons.
The odds reflect their results in a season in which they have lost 23 of their 29 Premier League matches and relegation is inevitable while their FA Cup run has been aided by them avoiding top-flight opposition so far. The only hope is that a week to get over Wilder’s departure and Chelsea’s midweek exertions allow the Blades to be competitive, just as they were in last month’s league game at Bramall Lane when they lost 2-1.

Chelsea meet Sheffield Utd having previously won four of their five FA Cup ties against the Blades, with this the first such meeting between the sides since 1992. United’s sole win against the Blues in the competition was all the way back in the 1915 final at Old Trafford, lifting their third FA Cup trophy.
Chelsea are appearing in their 15th FA Cup quarter-final since the turn of the millennium – the most of any side, while Sheffield Utd have reached back-to-back FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 2002/03 and 2003/04.
The Blues have registered 11 clean sheets in 13 matches without defeat since Tuchel took over and the BettingKick’s Chelsea vs Sheffield Utd prediction is: Chelsea win to nil

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
