The UEFA club competition season starter is here, the winners of the previous season's UEFA Champions League and Europa League are battling for the first trophy. Chelsea and Villareal, the UEFA Super Cup 2021 is here. Read our Chelsea vs Villareal prediction and betting tips.
Chelsea were underdogs to win UCL, especially after the rough start of the season, and Frank Lampard leaving as manager. But, the end of the season was brilliant for them, Thomas Tuchel who took charge connected all dots on their map, turn the dressing room in his favor, and the London team had a wonderful finish as Kai Havertz scored the only goal in Porto. That was just the beginning of the celebration for Chelsea fans as they were crowned champions of Europe for the second time!
That made expectations for the next season much bigger and they are very busy in the transfer market. Their new signing should be one of the finest strikers in the world, an ex-Chelsea player, Romelu Lukaku, as he agreed all the personal terms with Blues and waiting for his transfer from Inter, Italian champions. Lukaku should be the only missing piece in the great roster that Chelsea already has, but he will probably not come in time to play in the next match. Thomas Tuchel will have some problems choosing the starting 11 as many of the Chelsea players have been stars in EURO or Copa America, and Mason Mount, Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta, or Jorginho didn't play in any pre-season matches. Just looking at the probable starters you should be well aware of the quality of Chelsea in the roster so they stay firm favorites to win their first trophy.
Chelsea (3-4-2-1): Edouard Mendy; Cesar Azpilicueta, Kurt Zouma, Antonio Rudiger; Mateo Kovacic, N'Golo Kante, Marcos Alonso, Callum Hundson-Odoi; Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech; Timo Werner
Villareal knows how to play vs English clubs and a huge part in that is a credit to the former PSG and Arsenal manager Unai Emery, who beat both Arsenal and Manchester United on the road to Europe League cup glory. The Spanish tactician has many trophies in his CV, and he showed once again in the last season that his sides are almost unbeatable in cup competitions in two matches. Their preseason matches were no good, but it is a part of the preparation for the new season and adjusting things before competitive matches so their loss against Leicester and draw against Leeds isn’t something that could bother their fans.
The good news for Emery is that most of the players that had a meaningful impact on their season are still there and new players, as always, have a lot of skill and potential. The main striker Gerard Moreno didn’t play well for Spain at EURO, so he is eager to show that his brilliant last season wasn’t just an excellent glimpse in this career. He also signed a new contract until 2027 so he has many reasons to be at his best in this final. They have a great mix of firm veteran players and some exciting potential and the likes of Boulaye Dia and Aissa Mandi could be of help on the road to another great season.
Villarreal (4-4-2): Sergio Asenjo; Juan Foyth, Aissa Mandi, Raul Albiol, Alberto Moreno; Manuel Morlanes, Manu Trigueros, Yeremi Pino, Alfonso Pedraza; Fernando Nino, Gerard Moreno

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
