Chelsea host West Brom at Stamford Bridge (London) in the 30th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 12.30 pm (UK) on Saturday, April 3. Read our reasons for Chelsea vs West Brom prediction and betting tips.
Thomas Tuchel has not lost a match in his last 14 games as Chelsea head coach since he replaced Lampard last January. The German has guided Chelsea to the Champions League’s quarter-final and the FA Cup semi-final, they are sat 4th in the standings and are back in Premier League action this weekend when they welcome Sam Allardyce's West Brom to Stamford Bridge. The Baggies have amassed six points from their last six PL games (W1, D3, L2), whilst also keeping three clean sheets. However, these fixtures have been tight, with West Brom’s previous five league games all producing under 1.5 goals. They lost to 1-0 to Crystal Palace before the international break and with nine games to go, they have very slim chances of bridging the ten-point gap between them and safety.
There are two months to go in the 2020/21 season, which has been congested and hectic for pretty much every club owing to a later than usual start to the current campaign following the coronavirus enforced stoppage of 2019/20. There has been an excellent start to the season which saw Frank Lampard’s side riding high at the top of the table before it all went pear-shaped. Five defeats in eight games saw the former manager lose his job and Chelsea drop right out of the top four. Roman Abramovich, despite his huge admiration for Lampard, had seen enough and wielded the axe.
Thomas Tuchel was parachuted in to rescue things. He’s done just that, going on a 14-game unbeaten run (W10, D4) to start his tenure in west London, conceding a ridiculous two goals in that time and securing 12 clean sheets in 14 games. Silverware remains a possibility as well, with Chelsea through to an FA Cup semi-final against Man City on April 17 as well as the Champions League quarter-final tie with Porto next month. The important goal for Tuchel is to get Chelsea into the top four come the end of the season and anything else will certainly be a bonus.
On the other hand, with two months remaining in the season, the drama is increasing at the foot of the table. West Brom, who have just three wins all season, find themselves 10 points adrift of 17th-placed Newcastle. Portsmouth and West Ham went on to secure Premier League survival from similar positions in 2006 and 2007 respectively, but 19th-placed West Brom will need to start winning to haul themselves out of trouble.
Sam Allardyce said West Brom have a massive mountain to climb after defeat at Crystal Palace left the 66-year-old staring at the prospect of the first top-flight relegation of his managerial career. There are 27 points available and 20 needed, so Albion can only really afford to drop seven points. West Brom have won just one of their past 20 Premier League games in London (D5 L14) and even if it weren’t for these damning statistics, their visit to high-flying Chelsea next is highly unlikely to produce an upset.

Chelsea meet West Brom having been unbeaten in their last seven Premier League meetings with the Baggies (W5 D2), coming from 0-3 down at half-time to draw 3-3 in the reverse fixture at the Hawthorns this season. Chelsea are yet to concede a single goal in their five Premier League home games under Thomas Tuchel, and we just can’t see Allardyce’s West Brom, who are winless in their last 15 away league games against Chelsea (D3 L12), ending that run.
