In the second leg of the round of 16 of UEFA Europa League season 2019/20 this Wednesday 05 August 2020 at 18:55 we will see Copenhagen (4-4-2) facing Istanbul Basaksehir (4-2-3-1) at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark.
In the first leg played on 12 March 2020, Copenhagen suffered a loss against Istanbul Basaksehir at the away ground (Istanbul Basaksehir 1-0 Copenhagen). Meanwhile, Copenhagen ended Danish Premiership season 2019/20 by losing a championship title and taking 2nd position at the ranking. The Danish vice-champions have never succeded to qualify to quarter-finals of UEFA Europa League. We can be sure that they will be fully motivated and prepared to give the best effort to eliminate Istanbul Basaksehir and achieve historical result in the second most prestigous European competition.
Their task in return match against Turkish team at their home ground in Copenhagen is quite clear, they simply need to win. Their coach Stale Solbakken leads the team for 7 seasons in a row, has a great experiance in elimination matches and insists on team spirit and results not individual achievements. He will try to provide a big victory relying on creative midfielder Viktor Fischer (8 assist in Danish Premiership) and very strong 35 years old forward Dame N'Doye (2 goals in UEFA Europa League and 9 goals in Danish Premiership). In the absence of suspended forward Michael Santos (9 goals in Danish Premiership), it seems that two teenagers 18 years old forward Mohammed Daramy (4 goals and 4 assists in Danish Premiership) and 19 years old forward Mikkel Kaufmann (8 goals and 1 assist in Danish Premiership) could be a great surprise for their opponents.
Since they beated Copenhagen in the first leg by penalty goal, Istanbul Basaksehir succeded to win Turkish Premiership season 2019/20. They became champions for the first time in their history. But, the time of celebration is over. The same as their opponents, the Turkish champions have never succeded to qualify to quarter-finals of UEFA Europa League so we can also be sure that they will be fully motivated and prepared to give the best effort to eliminate Copenhagen and achieve historical result in European competitions.
Their task in return match against Danish team is also quite clear, they simply need to stay unbeaten. Their coach Okan Buruk in his first season in the club led them to win the championship title and this match is great challenge to show that he can overcome lack of experience in playing difficult elimination matches in European competitions.
Istanbul Basaksehir will not be defending the result from the first leg. They are the champions of Turkey and they will try to win this match also. Okan Buruk is confident that his best player Bosnian midfielder Edin Visca (13 goals and 12 assists in Turkish Premiership and 6 goals and 1 assist in UEFA Europa League) together with 35 years old left-back Gael Clichy (6 assists in Turkish Premiership and 2 assists in UEFA Europa League) will create enaugh goal chances for their main strikers Demba Ba (13 goals in Turkish Premiership) and Enzo Crivelli (11 goals in Turkish Premiership and 3 goals in UEFA Europa League).
These two teams have faced each other only once in their history on 12 March 2020 when Istanbul Basaksehir defeated Copenhagen at the home ground in Istanbul (Istanbul Basaksehir 1-0 Copenhagen).

This match will be full of goal chances by both sides. Copenhagen will spend most of the time by attacking and trying to score since they have lost their fist match against this rival. Istanbul Basaksehir are aware that defending tactics are too risky and overcomed so they will try to score rather than defend.
After all I said about these two teams, I rather say that this match will be full of goals. So my final choise is OVER 2.5

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
