Coventry await Queens Park Ranger on the second day in the Championship on Friday, September 18 at St. Andrew's Stadium, their shared ground in Birmingham, and the match kicks off at 7.45pm (UK).
After a defeat on the opening day against Bristol City (2-1), Coventry will look for their first victory after the return to the second tier of English football. Mark Robins felt afterwards that the defeat was undeserved as they threw away the point in the later stages of the game. Against QPR, who won their opener, they have a chance to put things right.
QPR's victory against Nottingham Forest could have been by a larger margin if Rob Dickie's goal had been given earlier, but it nevertheless left the boss Mark Warburton happy as Rangers lived a little dangerously at times. The win was particularly satisfying for the manager as he had an unsuccessful spell at Nottingham before being appointed at the Hoops' helm.
COVENTRY VS QPR MATCH ANALYSIS
The Sky Blues, have been missing from the Championship for eight years. Mark Robins, in his second stint at the club, did an excellent job of leading the team back to the second-tier, and he did so in style. For them, the biggest objective will be to stay up and anything better than that will be a bonus. They were a bit unfortunate at the weekend, given that they conceded only 20 seconds into their campaign, but they did alright to reshuffle and equalize before half-time.
They were also dealt a huge blow when Liam Kelly, the skipper, had to go off due to a hamstring injury in 22nd minute which left them little out of shape and positions. This was their first league game since March and the legs were little heavy as well. Manager Robins praised the new boys Gustavo Hamer and Callum O'Hare, hoping they will contribute even more against QPR.
Rangers, on the other hand, made a perfect start to their new campaign as second-half strikes from Lyndon Dykes and Ilias Chair earned them a well-deserved victory against Forest. Dykes, their six-figure summer signing, really impressed on his debut and has already repaid some of that fee with his performance in the season opener.
After losing their star player Eberechi Eze to Leeds, it's good to know the Hoops have another option up front, but the manager can be even more pleased with the clean sheet as their last year's defensive record, when they shipped 76 goals, was nothing to write home about. This time around, the feeling is they can do better, and when they travel to Birmingham they will hope for more of the same.

Sky Blues will have to get to speed quickly, which will be even harder without their captain. never mind their luck, the Sky Blue need to avoid giving away cheap points like that for the rest of the campaign. The game on Friday will be a good opportunity to came out more solid and organized. As for QPR, apart from Dykes, the boss was delighted by his other summer signings Rob Dickie and Tom Caroll and will probably stick with 4-2-3-1 formation again.
In ten years, the sides have played a total of 2 times. Coventry City have run out winners in none of these match-ups and the most painful was the 2-1 loss in 2011 that gave QPR breathing space at the top in the Championship

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
