Croatia meet Czech Republic at the Hampden Park (Glasgow) in the EURO 2020 Group D Round 2 match and the game kicks off at 5 pm (UK) on Friday, June 18. Read our reason for Croatia vs Czech Republic prediction and betting tips.
A MUST WIN MATCH FOR CROATIA WHILE THE CZECH COULD SETTLE FOR A DRAW
Having lost to England on matchday 1, Croatia must defeat Czech Republic in order to stay in the race for knockout qualification. Meanwhile, Czech Republic did well to get the better of Scotland at Hampden Park with 2-0 win scoreline. Both teams had several chances to score, but it was the brilliance of Patrik Schick that made the difference at the end. The World Cup runner up Croatia had some good spells against England, yet created no clear chances and downed the tools when a moment of brilliance from Kevin Phillips, who sent a through pass to Sterling to score, gave England a crucial win.
CAN IVAN PERISIC SOLVE CROATIAN SCORING PROBLEMS?
Croatia (FIFA ranked at #14) had never lost a European Championship opener (W4, D1) before Sunday’s 1-0 defeat against England, a result which makes reaching the knockout stages for a fourth time a little harder. Subsequently, they might be wary of another trend being bucked as they go into this match protecting an unbeaten head to head three-game record against the Czech Republic where they drew twice and won one game.
Croatia famously edged out England in the semi-finals of Russia 2018 but created little going forward in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Wembley. Only Raheem Sterling’s 57th-minute strike separated the two teams on the scoresheet but the gulf in quality was much bigger. Head coach Zlatko Dalic though attempted to remain upbeat and insisted the Blazers will be better in the forthcoming matches and can still qualify for the knockout stages.
TIP #1: Ivan Perisic was probably the liveliest of Croatia’s front men down the left and he will take heart from how Scotland troubled the Czechs on that flank. Looking at the Croatia vs Czech Republic odds, the Inter Milan forward is fair value to score at any time.
CZECH REPUBLIC TO KEEP BELIEVING
Czech Republic’s (FIFA ranked at #40) only appearance in a major competition final as an independent nation is a more distant memory, although it came on British shores in Euro ’96. Hopes of an unlikely repeat rest on them beating better-ranked sides but often inconsistent - they haven’t triumphed against a team inside the top 20 since overcoming England in October 2019. They’ve drawn once and lost twice since then.
Czech Republic may have blown hot and cold over the past year or so but looked in good form when kicking off their Euro 2020 campaign with a 2-0 triumph over Scotland. Patrik Schick’s perfectly placed header put them ahead just before half-time and he struck again with a spectacular long-range shot in the second period. They must feel a first victory over Croatia is possible, potentially setting up a Wembley showdown with England to decide who wins the group
TIP #2: We’re happy to jump on the bandwagon and back for Patrik Shick to hit the target again here in our Croatia vs Czech Republic betting tips.

Croatia looked a shadow of the team which reached the World Cup final when losing to England and may struggle to beat Czech Republic. The Czechs will have been buoyed by a solid 2-0 success over Scotland at Hampden Park and get to stay in Glasgow for this game. Jaroslav Silhavy would probably now settle for a draw from this fixture, so a stalemate looks like a stand-out shout.
Final BettingKick’s prediction is: Croatia and Czech Republic to draw.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
