Croatia meet Scotland at the Hampden Park (Glasgow) in the EURO 2020 Group D Round 3 match and the game kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Tuesday, June 21. Read our reason for Scotland vs Croatia prediction and betting tips.
A MUST WIN GAME FOR SCOTLAND AND CROATIA
Scotland and Croatia face a huge game on Tuesday at Hampden with both nations knowing only a win will be good enough to qualify. The Scots produced an outstanding display at Wembley against England where they could arguably have won it. They will certainly go into this game with an enormous injection of confidence as they aim to qualify past a group stage at a tournament for the first time ever. In contrast, the World Cup runners-up needed an equaliser to rescue them against the Czechs and look a shadow of the side who reached the Final in Russia three years ago. The knives are out for manager Zlatko Dalic in his homeland and it's hard to believe they can play any worse.
SCOTS CAN FINALLY MAKE HISTORY AT HAMPDEN
On Friday, England had the greater share of possession in the half, but they once again lacked the cutting edge upfront. Scotland was much braver on the ball and England’s ineffective pressing in their half enabled the Scots to create chances higher up the field. England’s quality was outplayed by Scotland’s tenacity. Only thing missing from Scotland were goals, and frankly, they were much closer to scoring over 90 minutes.
Steve Clarke’s team pretty much fulfilled their gameplan to the letter: squeezing England’s space when they were out of possession, providing sufficient angles and options in it. Indeed had they converted their half-chances they might even have nicked a win, have they been a little braver in the second half. Scotland now have one point from their opening two games and will need to beat Croatia to stand a chance of going through. But they will take heart from their defiant Wembley display.
TIP #1: Both nations struggle to score goals and it's hard to see this catch fire as much of a goalfest. It could be a narrow win for either nation and both teams to score has to be a runner.
WORLD CUP RUNNERS-UP FEELING THE HEAT
After losing their opening game against England, Croatia were under pressure to perform but the Czech Republic refused to allow them to establish, let alone settle into, any sort of pass-and-move groove. Much in the way that Silhavy’s pressing game had forced Scotland into a rather rushed, slightly panicky approach, Croatia, too, found themselves snatching at the ball and were apparently unable to slow things down and control the tempo.
Croatia sprung into life in the second half, with Ivan Perisic equalising two minutes after the restart but the Czech clung on to their now precious point. Croatia are still rammed full of quality players though and painful experience will tell any Scotland fan it's when the hype and excitement builds that the Scots tend to reserve their biggest letdowns for. However, this is an ageing Croatia side who have now just won just two games out of their last 11. Scotland won't get a better chance to break their duck.
TIP #2: The Croatians have only scored one goal, but Dinamo Zagreb's Bruno Petkovic came on at half time against the Czechs and looked like he improved the team. For him to score anytime is our second shout.

Momentum does seem to be with Scotland though and they could hardly have handpicked a better off-form opponent to play their final match in a group with home advantage too against a Croatia team who appear to have plenty of cracks in their armour. Both teams are looking for a win here, but their goal-scoring form is really nothing to write home about.
