Crotone will try to earn the first point in the new season as they host league champions Juventus on Saturday amid controversial handling of the coronavirus situation of the team from Torino.
Crotone has three defeats at the start of the season with ten goals conceded. Sassuolo took their chances and emerged with a 4-1 victory in the last game they played. Newly-promoted Crotone was without Emanuel Riviere and Ahmad Benali in that game but they also made a first chance of the match when pacey Simy got away from Vlad Chiriches to cause panic in the six-yard box. They also had a series of corners, but it was Sassuolo who broke the deadlock with a bit of luck. Domenico Berardi’s first touch on a wonderful Manuel Locatelli cross-field pass wasn’t great, but a lucky ricochet set it up for Gregoire Defrel, who gave it straight back for Berardi’s shot from the edge of the box which taken a deflection off Defrel to wrong-foot Alex Cordaz. Mert Muldur made a decisive interception to stop Simy going clear, while Luca Cigarini’s free-kick bounced off the crossbar off Andrea Consigli’s fingertips and Gian Marco Ferrari needed a perfect sliding tackle on Simy. But that was not all from Crotone.
They finally got the equalizer they deserved thanks to an entirely avoidable penalty, as Medhi Bourabia kicked Cigarini in the shin. Simy converted into the near bottom corner. Sassuolo also received a spot-kick using VAR, as Pereira had his hand up when charging down the cross from Berardi. Cordaz guessed the right side, but couldn’t get his fingertips to the Caputo penalty into the bottom corner. Sassuolo again was clinical on the counter-attack to go 3-1 up. Berardi’s inspired slide-rule pass was laid on a plate for Caputo to sprint forward, send Cordaz to the ground with a dummy and dink it over him into the empty net. Crotone’s defensive woes made it an even heavier result in stoppages, as Marrone and Magallan got into a muddle, effectively setting the ball up for Locatelli to blast in from 14 yards.
Crotone is without the injured Ahmad Benali, Gian Marco Crespi, and Giuseppe Cuomo. After three defeats in a row with zero goals scored, Crotone managed a 1-1 draw against Juventus in their most recent meeting in April 2018.
Crotone (3-5-2): Cordaz; Magallan, Djidji, Golemic; Molina, Petriccione, Cigarini, Vulic, Reca; Simy, Messias

Injured: Cuomo, Crespi, Benali
Juventus travel to Crotone three weeks after their last competitive game to face the newly-promoted Serie A side that has had a rough start to the season with the worst defensive record in Serie A so far. Juventus are living in a bubble at the J Hotel after Weston McKennie tested positive for Covid-19 on October 14, one day after Cristiano Ronaldo. The pair will be out of action at the Ezio Scida and the same is true of the injured Aaron Ramsey and Matthijs de Ligt. Federico Chiesa could make his debut in black-and-white after a loan move with the option to buy from Fiorentina on the deadline day. Paulo Dybala has yet to make his first appearance this season and should travel with the team although he didn’t play at all with Argentina during the International break due to gastrointestinal problems.
Seven Juventus players are reportedly under investigation for breaking the bubble before the International break two weeks ago. Juventus went into isolation after two members of the external staff tested positive for Covid-19 two weeks ago. Rodrigo Bentancur, Juan Cuadrado, Danilo, Paulo Dybala, Merih Demiral, and Cristiano Ronaldo left the J Hotel to play for their respective national teams while Gigi Buffon went home. According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the players will be fined if found guilty by the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office that is carrying on the investigation.
Juventus (3-4-3): Szczesny; Danilo, Bonucci, Chiellini; Cuadrado, Arthur, Bentancur, Frabotta; Chiesa, Morata, Kulusevski.
Suspended: None
Injured: De Ligt, Ronaldo, Ramsey, McKennie

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
