Napoli faces Serie A strugglers Crotone on Sunday and wants to remain within touching distance from the top of the Serie A table.
Crotone is the only team without a win in the opening nine Serie A games of the season. They managed one point in the last five league games. Their Giovanni Stroppa admitted after the latest loss that Crotone ‘didn’t maintain the same standard’ of performance and became ‘demoralized’ after Bologna scored. The only goal of the game was scored in first-half stoppages, as despite an Alex Cordaz save and the crossbar, Roberto Soriano eventually bundled over the line. Bologna made history as they finally kept a clean sheet after conceding in 41 consecutive Serie A games, beating Crotone 1-0.
They are reportedly interested in signing Fabio Borini on a deal until June 2021. Borini, who was released by Hellas Verona after 2019-20 and has yet to sign with a new club, could become a new Crotone player this winter. The newly-promoted side is looking for reinforcements as they fight to survive in the top tier, and the report claims the club are interested in the former Milan forward. The likes of Emmanuel Riviere, Luca Cigarini, and Andrea Rispoli are injured and will miss the Napoli clash.
Crotone (3-5-2): Cordaz; Magallan, Marrone, Luperto; Molina, Benali, Petriccione, Vulic, Reca; Messias, Simy
Suspended: none
Injured: Riviere, Cigarini, Rispoli
On a yellow card: Marrone, Magallan
On the night in which Napoli honored Diego Armando Maradona, they dominated Roma 4-0 with particularly exhilarating goals from Lorenzo Insigne and Matteo Politano. There were emotional scenes at the Stadio San Paolo, soon to be renamed the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, just days after the legend’s death at the age of 60. It was fitting that the deadlock should be broken by a native Neapolitan and the team captain, with an Insigne curling free-kick that Diego would’ve been proud of. Fabian Ruiz squeezed his shot through the legs of Juan Jesus and Dries Mertens was quickest to react on a parried Eljif Elmas shot, but Politano rounded out the rout in style with a spectacular dribbling run past three players and the goalkeeper.
A few days later, they had problems against AZ in the UEL and needed Ospina penalty save to held a goalscoring 1-1 draw. This 1-1 draw, and Real Sociedad’s chaotic 2-2 with Rijeka, means it all goes down to the final game. Napoli lead with 10 points, Real Sociedad and AZ Alkmaar have eight. The Azzurri have Victor Osimhen and Fabian Ruiz out of action. Rino Gattuso hopes to recover them but both the Nigerian striker and the Spanish midfielder are reportedly likely to miss the game.
Napoli (4-2-3-1): Ospina; Di Lorenzo, Manolas, Koulibaly, Mario Rui; Demme, Bakayoko; Lozano, Zielinski, Insigne; Mertens
Suspended: none
Injured: Osimhen, Fabian Ruiz

Crotone has always lost in Serie A against Napoli (four defeats from four games). It could be 5 from 5 after this match and away win is the decent betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
