Crotone continues to fight for survival in Serie A, as Sassuolo are looking to end a winless streak of five games at the Ezio Scida on Sunday.
Crotone is bottom of the table, four points behind the safety, and the encouraging 4-1 win over Benevento was followed by three straight defeats. Giovanni Stroppa explained why he is annoyed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s second goal and insists Crotone must focus on results, rather than performances. The Serie A strugglers suffered a 4-0 win defeat away at Milan. “We made mistakes on the first and the second goal. We proved to be vulnerable and those six-seven minutes between their second and fourth goal were absurd,” Stroppa told media. “We faced a great team, we shouldn’t have been this vulnerable, I am sorry for this.”
Crotone sits at the bottom of the Serie A table, but when the reporters tried to – at least- praise their playing style, Stroppa replied: “Stop saying we are playing well if we only play well, we are going nowhere. I am sorry there was no reaction, we didn’t play badly, but we were not focused when it mattered. I don’t want our playing style to be more important than results. Today we conceded a goal on a throw-in, it happened the same against Genoa last week, these things are annoying me.”
Crotone: Cordaz; Magallan, Golemic, Luperto; Rispoli, Zanellato, Benali, Pereira; Messias; Ounas, Di Carmine
Suspended: none
Injured: Molina, Cigarini, Reca, Cuomo
Sassuolo is struggling to build on the great start to the campaign and their current run has seen them fall to eighth in the league, six points away from the European places. Roberto De Zerbi was left ‘irritated’ by Sassuolo’s 2-1 home defeat to Spezia. ‘We conceded avoidable goals.’ The Neroverdi had taken the lead through Francesco Caputo, but the visitors always had momentum throughout and turned it around through Martin Erlic and Emanuel Gyasi on set plays. “We wasted our scoring opportunities, as two or three times we could’ve passed it to someone who was unmarked and we didn’t. We’ve got to accept defeat and get back on track, things aren’t going our way at the moment. We’ve got to work harder and aim higher.”
De Zerbi was asked if perhaps Sassuolo are a little too narcissistic in their possession style and not clinical enough. “I don’t think so. It’s about making decisions quickly when you enter the opposition penalty area and I don’t see any particularly egotistical players. Sometimes you score four or five goals per game, sometimes you don’t. If we had scored to equalize, nobody could’ve complained, but we take the criticism and will examine what we are lacking. The problem is that it feels like we’ve been trying to grit our teeth and get through a difficult period for months. We’re not out of the woods yet.”
Sassuolo: Consigli; Muldur, Marlon, Peluso, Rogerio; Obiang, Locatelli; Berardi, Djuricic, Traore; Caputo
Suspended: Ferrari
Injured: Romagna, Bourabia, Boga

Both teams are looking to turn around a negative trend this weekend. Sassuolo won 4-1 in the reverse fixture but has never beaten Crotone in both games during the same Serie A season. Both teams to score is our favorable betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
