Crystal Palace host Brighton in the 5th round of the Premier League at Selhurst Park (London) on Sunday, September 18 and the match kicks off at 2pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
Crystal Palace are 612th in the table, three places above Brighton, with 6 points from their from their first two rounds. Those were Southampton at home (1-0) and Manchester United away (1-3). Unfortunately, they followed that hard-fought victories with a defeat to Everton at home (1-2) and away to Chelsea (4-0) which ended their little winning run and set them back a few steps. Their unpredictability however, makes them a tough rival for Brighton on Saturday.
As for the Seagulls, after losing on the opening day against Chelsea, Brighton bounced back with an away victory at Newcastle (0-3)in 2nd round of the PL. However, they lost their next two league matches against Man United in controversial fashion (2-3) and against Everton (4-2) before the international break. They are sitting in the 15th place with 3 points and have a relatively easier schedule in the next few games, starting with a visit to London on Sunday.
MATCH ANALYSIS
Crystal Palace looked to build on their historical 1-3 win against Manchester United but were stopped in their tracks by Everton, who didn't break too much sweat to take away all three point from London. Thus, they ended their best start to the season ever, before they could have reveled in it for too long. There were positives for Roy Hodgson's team, with summer signing Eberechi Eze producing a lively performance on his full Premier League debut for the club, but besides the equalizer the Eagles failed to take a shot on target. They were even more toothless against Chelsea next as the Eagles boss Roy Hodgson named an unchanged line-up from defeat at Everton who successfully nullified Chelsea's attack until Chilwell pounced in the 50th minute and from then on they never looked remotely like forcing a way back. Crystal Palace have lost nine of their last 12 Premier League matches as their good start is more and more resembling of the poor finish of the last season.
Brighton cruised to a comfortable Premier League victory over an under par Newcastle at St James' Park on match-day 2, which was a superb all-round showing from the Seagulls and the perfect response to losing their opening game to Chelsea. They were well-organized, well-drilled and played with confidence. Apart from Maupay who has scored four goals in his last three Premier League appearances, their new young full-back Lamptey and Ben White, have been stand-out performers so far. Unfortunately, consecutive defeats to Man United and Everton mean that Brighton have picked-up just three points from first four games, but they were really unlucky not to get anything from their opening game against Chelsea and deserved at least a point from the game with United. They need to take it on the chin, and bring their best game when they visit the struggling Crystal Palace.

Palace aim to make amends for back-to-back defeats to Everton and Chelsea, but given the number of players in their recovery room, home win will not come easy. The Seagulls, on the other hand, faced a tough fixture list in the previous four rounds, and maybe the time has come for them to get back on course in the Premier League.
These two teams have been involved in 15 matches since 2005 and the Eagles have a slightly better record with 6 wins to Seagull's 5. Both teams have averaged 2.53 across those 15 games, with Palace averaging 1.33 per match and Brighton averaged 1.20.
In their last 13 games in all competitions, Crystal Palace have a poor record of just 2 wins, and their Sunday's opponents have drawn 5 times in their last 10 away matches in all comps.
My prediction is: Under 2.5 goals

As a young boy, he found his love for football, which became an obsession, but when he tried playing it he soon realized that he just wasn't talented enough. Bearing that in mind, Wyatt decided to learn everything there is to know about all the teams and players, with special focus on Premier League and Championship . Wyatt has a big affection for Championship and he is well versed in all the teams and knows their advantages and weak spots very well.
