Crystal Palace host Burnley at the Turf Moor (Burnley) in the 24th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, February 13.
CRYSTAL PALACE VS BURNLEY MATCH ANALYSIS
Crystal Palace have been blowing hot and cold as of late. After exiting the FA Cup in Round 3 they strang four games without a win (D1, L3), then won two PL games on the trot, and finally lost 2-0 at Leeds on Monday. They welcome Burnley in 13th place in the standings and could edge closer to the top-half with a win here. As for Burnley, the Clarets come into this match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Brighton in the league and a 2-0 FA Cup defeat against Championship side Bournemouth at home. They are winless in their last four games in all competitions. As a result, the Clarets have slipped down the standings into 17th, but are still eight big points away from the bottom-three.
Prior to their Monday night defeat, Crystal Palace have won back-to-back Premier League matches for the first time since September, as many as in their previous 12 matches combined. The Eagles have been stuck on 23 points or close to 23 points for a little while so it has been good to move away from that total. They appear to be improving upon their own defensive woes, maintaining clean sheets in three of their last seven PL matches after failing to do so in any of the 15 before that.
Against Leeds, Palace were without top goalscorer Wilfried Zaha after the Ivory Coast winger injured a hamstring in the 2-1 win at Newcastle on Tuesday and Roy Hodgson's side desperately missed their talisman. This defeat means Palace have now lost 17 of the past 19 games in which Zaha has not played, including all four Premier League matches without him this season. Also, the injury-hit Londoners could only name six substitutes and handed a debut to French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, who joined the club on loan from Bundesliga outfit Mainz in January.
On the other hand, Burnley have recently seen an upturn in form as the Clarets gained momentum ever since dealing Liverpool their first home league defeat since April 2017. Notwithstanding their most recent loss to Chelsea and leaders Man City, winning three in six matches in all competitions was supposed to be a huge lift ahead of their clash with Championship play-off hopefuls, Bournemouth, but they ended up well-beaten by the Cherries in the cup in midweek.
Bournemouth, under caretaker-manager Jonathan Woodgate, were deserved winners. Sean Dyche’s side conceded two soft goals and were chasing the game when they conceded the penalty. They didn’t lack effort or desire, but after missing a golden chance through Jay Rodriguez they didn’t ask enough questions. The difference in the performance was a collective edge Burnley missed, even though their keeper has hardly had a save to make. The Fa Cup didn't quite work out for the Clarets and now they are left with a relegation fight on their hands.

Since a 0-0 draw in their first Premier League meeting in September 2014, both Crystal Palace and Burnley have won five games each from their 10 top-flight meetings. The Eagles have won two of their last three top-flight home games (L1), as many as they had in their previous 12 at Selhurst Park (D4 L6). The Eagles have also kept two clean sheets in this run, more than a solitary clean sheet they had in their previous 12.
Meanwhile, Burnley are looking to win consecutive away league matches against Crystal Palace for the first time since 2001. However, they have scored fewer away Premier League goals than any other side this season (5). The Clarets have scored just 2 goals in their last 9 games on the road, but those goals have come in 1-0 victories at both Arsenal and Liverpool.
