CRYSTAL PALACE VS LIVERPOOL MATCH ANALYSIS
Crystal Palace are in 13th place in the table with 18 points after their most recent 1-1 draw in a capital city derby against West Ham (1-1), which is their second 1-1 draw in a row. On the other hand, they haven’t registered two consecutive wins since the start of the new campaign and keep blowing hot and cold. Since those two initial wins, they have picked up 13 points from 11 games (W3-D4-L5). As for Liverpool, they have leapfrogged Spurs at the top of the table with 28 points. They are now unbeaten in the last nine Premier League matches (W5, D4) since their defeat at the hands of Aston Villa. Victory on Wednesday sent the defending champions three points clear at the league’s summit for the first time in this new campaign.
The honeymoon at the start of the campaign was over for the Eagles before they could have reveled in it for too long. Crystal Palace followed the two wins with two defeats before they shared the spoils with Brighton. The see-saw results have continued as they won against Fulham, lost to Wolves, won against Leeds, and lost again to struggling Burnley and United. However, Roy Hodgson managed to steady the ship and win convincingly at West Bromwich two weekends ago (1-5) and get the back-to-back draws against the Spurs and another London rivals, West Ham on Wednesday.
As for the midweek game, Christian Benteke, who was later sent off, had put Palace on course for an away win at London Stadium with his third goal in as many games. But the Hammers leveled when Ivory Coast forward Haller showed the wonderful technique to send an overhead kick beyond Vicente Guaita after he connected with Coufal's cross. Benteke will miss the visit of his former club, Liverpool, to Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Liverpool also got off to a great start of the campaign with three wins, but then the Reds hit the wall against Villa, shipping 7 goals in the process. It was the first time Liverpool had conceded seven goals since 1963 and it was only their fourth Premier League defeat since January 2019. However, they bounced back in the league with a nine-game unbeaten run, which culminated in them beating the Spurs to get some breathing space at the top in midweek. Meanwhile, they have drawn Leipzig in the knock-out stages of the Champions League as group winners and said their last goodbyes to their ex-boss Gerrard Houllier.
On Wednesday, Roberto Firmino's last-minute header broke Tottenham's stubborn resistance at Anfield in an entertaining encounter that looked set to end in stalemate. Liverpool got at Spurs in the opening exchanges and went ahead through Mohamed Salah's deflected shot. However, after only seven minutes, Spurs struck back when Son Heung-min broke clear to calmly finish past Alisson.
Manager Jose Mourinho was left to regret missed opportunities after the break as Firmino's winner saw defending champions inflict Spurs' first Premier League loss since the season opening home defeat against Everton.

These two sides have met 17 times so far, with Livceršpool having the upper hand with 11 wins to Palace’s 5. Palace last won at home against Liverpool in 2014 and are on a seven-game losing run against the champions in all competitions. They have actually won only one match in their last 10 head-to-head meetings (L9).
The hosts have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 12 Premier League matches, but are undefeated in the previous three league fixtures (W1, D2), their second such run after the first three fixtures of the campaign (W2, D1).
The Anfield paid tribute to former manager Gerard Houllier who died aged 73 this week as Liverpool responded perfectly after a lacklustre performance at Fulham.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
