Crystal Palace host Man United at Selhurst Park (London) in the rescheduled 29th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8.15 pm (UK) on Wednesday, March 3. The game has been brought forward from March 20 owing to United’s FA Cup involvement. Read our reasons for Crystal Palace vs Man United prediction and betting tips.
Following the exertions of Monday evening, the Eagles once again found themselves lucky to survive a defeat by sneaking a goalless draw after plenty of hard work and defensive stubborness against a Fulham side fighting for their lives. A smash-and-grab 2-1 win at rivals Brighton last Monday propelled the Eagles up to 13th place in the standings, where they still remain, 10 points clear of the bottom-three. As for Man United, two wins and four draws in the last six league matches have them looking over their shoulders in the 2nd place, 12 points behind local rivals Man City. The title may be too far gone, but the battle for the top-four is raging after a scoreless stalemate at Stamford Bridge on Sunday night.
Although they loiter down in 13th, Crystal Palace have never picked up more than their current haul of 33 points after 26 games in any of their previous top-flight campaigns. This is despite having one of the PL’s worst defensive records, with only West Brom conceding more goals ahead of this gameweek than Palace’s total of 43. Crystal Palace have avoided defeat in four of their last six home matches, but there’s been a fair few poor displays at home in recent times for Roy Hodgson’s men.
A clean sheet and another point to the tally is about all you can say about Eagles’ performance against Fulham. It was one where Palace were lucky to take a point after offering very little going forward but was a very solid defensive showing against a side fighting for their lives. Having said that, the injury record this season is one of the worst in the Premier League which has meant similar selections over a period of games, never ideal during a condensed season such as this one.
Man United, on the other hand, are in decent form themselves, unbeaten in nine since a shock 2-1 loss to Sheffield Utd. Too many draws have undermined their title challenge and there was another stalemate at the weekend against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men remain inconsistent and even though they had the firepower to inflict Tuchel's first defeat in the Blues dugout, they didn’t hit top form at Stamford Bridge.
Sunday’s game saw neither side break the deadlock with the Red Devils resigned to bemoaning a dubious penalty call as their only excuse for not taking all three points. On the face of it a draw away to Chelsea was not a bad result for Man United but their record against the big guns this season is lamentable and a key reason why they are nowhere near challenging Man City for the title. Instead, they are simply leading the race for a top-four place.

Crystal Palace meet Man United having won two of their last three league meetings with the visitors (L1), as many as they had in their previous 27 against them. The Eagles are also looking to complete their first-ever league double over the Red Devils after they celebrated a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford in the early stages of the campaign in September.
With all the talking about a crazy situation that the Eagles find themselves in - the club currently have seventeen players whose contracts expire in June 2021, plus Hodgson’s contract expires in summer, as well, it is clear that the club may decide to throw this current campaign under the bus. Meanwhile, Manchester, who are facing a tough task of keeping a CL place for the remaining 12 games, have an excellent away record against lower sides and should get the maximum points here – especially since Palace’s main man, Zaha, isn’t match-fit.
