CRYSTAL PALACE VS NEWCASTLE MATCH ANALYSIS
Crystal Palace are 11th in the table with 13 points. After two consecutive wins against Southampton at home and Manchester United away at the start of the new campaign, they followed it with two defeats - to Everton at home and away to Chelsea. Since then they picked up seven points and had a chance for their first back-to-back wins of the campaign against Burnley, after their splendid (4-1) win against Leeds before the break. However, they lost again (1-0) and climbed down the standings. As for the Magpies, they are 15th with 11 points from their first nine Premier League matches (W3-D2-L4). The Magpies aimed to build on a 2-1 win over Everton two rounds ago but ended losing 2-0 twice, in their back-to-back defeats against Southampton away and Chelsea at home. They have one win from their four away fixtures so far, and will probably be satisfied with a point here.
Crystal Palace had the best start to the season ever with two wins on the trot, including a historical 1-3 win against Manchester United. However, it ended before they could have reveled in it for too long. The Eagles followed it with two defeats before they shared the spoils with Brighton. The see-saw results have continued as they lost to Wolves, came with three points from Leeds match, and lost again against struggling Burnley.
Palace were without influential forward Wilfried Zaha after he tested positive for coronavirus, and they missed his presence in attack. However, they wasted the chance to equalize, with on-loan Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi and substitute Christian Benteke’s chance going to waste. Palace have kept just one clean sheet in their past 17 Premier League games, conceding in eight consecutive matches since a 1-0 victory against Southampton in September, and it does not bode well for the rest of the campaign.
Newcastle, on the other hand, Steve Bruce’s side was not at full strength against Wolves (1-1) and Everton (2-1), but have still managed to pick up four points from two difficult fixtures. They had climbed to 11th after their last win on November 1, but have taken a couple of steps back after identical defeats to the Saints and Chelsea. Defensive solidity had been a key facet of Newcastle's previous two Premier League campaigns, so they would like to find a formula that worked so well against Wolves and Everton when they travel to London.
As for their most recent league match, an own goal by Federico Fernandez and a Tammy Abraham strike meant the second defeat on the trot for Steve Bruce. The absence of their leading scorer, Callum Wilson, is proving too costly for the Magpies, as they haven’t scored in two consecutive matches now. Newcastle have lost five of their last seven home matches in the Premier League and may opt for a cautious approach ahead of the Crystal Palace match.

The Eagles want to come back into the top ten and will look for their third home win of the campaign. Serbia midfielder and the Eagles’ skipper, Luka Milivojevic remains sidelined through suspension, while defender James Tomkins should recover in time to face the Magpies.
Newcastle United, on the other hand, are eyeing to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to Southampton and Chelsea. The likes of Ritchie, Wilson, and Lascelles should recover in time to face the London club, while Fraser, Dummett, Gayle, and goalkeeper Dubravka remain in the recovery room.
