Denmark made a promising start to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and now they host Moldova on Sunday at the MCH Arena in Herning. Read our reasons for Denmark vs Moldova prediction and betting tips.
After one round of World Cup European Qualification games, Denmark currently tops Group F after being the only side to win their opening game with a 0-2 victory away at Israel. Goals from Martin Braithwaite and Jonas Wind secured all three points for Kasper Hjulmand's side. Having made it to the last 16 of the 2018 showpieces in Russia, Denmark is aiming to qualify for the World Cup after being handed a relatively easy draw. Their second match of this international meetup sees them host Moldova, who could only draw at home to the Faroe Islands after being pegged back late on after being 1-0 up. Denmark should be able to capitalize against the out-of-form and inferior visiting squad and with home advantage in their favor, the Danes are expected to win here easily. Denmark has only lost three times since the 2018 World Cup and two of those losses were to Belgium. Denmark has now won six of their last seven internationals including a 0-1 triumph against England at Wembley in October and they have kept five clean sheets in that sequence.
Hjulmand could decide to shuffle his pack for this match, as the Denmark boss is expected to have more than one eye on their key clash with Austria on March 31. Christian Eriksen played the full 90 minutes against Israel and is expected to be rested for this game, with Robert Skov, Mikkel Damsgaard, Kasper Dolberg, and Lasse Schone all in line for starts. Henrik Dalsgaard and Jannik Vestergaard could both be handed spots at the back, but Joakim Maehle should retain his position at left-back for a team that has won six of their last seven matches.
Denmark: Schmeichel; Dalsgaard, Kjaer, Vestegaard, Maehle; Delaney, Schone; Skov, Damsgaard, Braithwaite; Dolberg
Moldova played out a 1-1 draw with the Faroe Islands. Ion Nicolaescu sent Moldova ahead in the ninth minute of the contest before Meinhard Olsen leveled for the away side late on. Eastern European minnows Moldova came close to securing an unlikely victory, with 177th position in FIFA's world rankings, Moldova has traditionally finished last or second-last in their group in all major qualifiers. Moldova has now failed to win a competitive international fixture since June 2019, a run of 14 games with 12 of those ending in defeat.
Moldova's performance against the Faroe Islands could lead to head coach Bordin sending the same starting XI onto the field for Sunday's encounter. Nicolaescu scored his second international goal last time out and should again lead the attack with support from Vitalie Damascan, who has netted once for his country in 14 appearances. The away side's most experienced player is Alexandru Epureanu, and the 34-year-old could win his 99th cap on Sunday, while Igor Armas is again likely to captain the team from the central defense.
Moldova: Namasco; Posmac, Epureanu, Armas; Jardan, Rata, Carp, Ionita, Reabciuk; Damascan, Nicolaescu

Moldova is capable to defend the starting scoreline, but it should be a comfortable 90 minutes of football for the home team. BettingKick’s Denmark vs Moldova prediction: Home team win to nil.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
