Derby host Millwall at the Pride Park (Derby) in the 36th round of the Championship and the match kicks off at 3 pm (UK) on Saturday, March 13. Read our reasons for Derby vs Millwall prediction and betting tips.
Following the Rams’ goalless draw with Barnsley on Wednesday night, Wayne Rooney’s side sit 18th in the Championship table, seven points clear of the relegation zone, but having played three games more than 22nd placed Rotherham. With Derby having not won in four either, the club will also be looking to return to form sooner rather than later. As for Millwall, the Lions have seen their play-off hopes weaken following a run of one win in five Championship matches (D2, L2) leaving them in a safe mid-table position, especially after a 2-0 defeat against Blackburn at the den last time out.
Derby ended Barnsley’s seven-game winning run by holding them to a goalless draw at Oakwell on Wednesday night and many Rams fans were left impressed by the performance of defender Teden Mengi who was one of a string of signings made by Derby late in January and produced arguably his finest performance in a Derby shirt. The Rams remain one of the clubs battling to get clear of trouble, which may be little surprising looking at their team, squad, and size of the club, and particularly after they finished quite strongly last season.
However, a poor start to the campaign and all that uncertainty with a change of manager and fluctuations in terms of potential ownership as well have added to their struggles. But with Rooney at the helm, they have been really good. He has made them a little bit tougher than they previously were and has gone back to basics. They’ve lacked a bit of consistency but have been in pretty good form over the last 10-12 games and up until the last couple of games they looked like they had pulled away.
On the other hand, it’s not often that a Millwall side has headed towards Easter with nothing to play for in recent years, whether that’s in terms of fighting for survival or making a late dash for the top-six. That could be set to change this year though, with Saturday’s defeat to Blackburn effectively killing off any faint hopes of making the Championship play-offs. Millwall are still on course to record their third top-10 finish in the last four years – a return which isn’t to be sniffed at since they rejoined the second tier back in 2017.
That’s even more impressive when you consider that the Lions looked like they could be sleepwalking into a relegation battle just a few weeks ago after an extensive run of poor form. But if they are to try and go one better and have ambitions on muscling in on the promotion party next year, then Millwall’s creative deficiencies need to be addressed in the summer. Their strikeforce is a dilemma which has been highly scrutinised this year, and if we’re being brutally honest, it’s unlikely the club would be happy heading into the 2021/22 campaign with the same attacking roster

Derby meet Millwall looking to complete a league double over Millwall for the first time since the 1968-69 season after celebrating a 1-0 win away at The Den in December. The Rams also have a slightly better overall record with 8 wins to Lions’ 6 in their last 20 meetings.
Millwall have only scored three goals in their last nine away league games against Derby, who have conceded just four times in their last nine at Pride Park (W5 D2 L2). We would say the Rams are favorites here, but with just one of their last 15 Championship home games featuring over 2.5 goals the BettingKick’s Derby vs Millwall prediction is: Under 2.5 goals
