DERBY VS STOKE MATCH ANALYSIS
The Rams put an end to their eleven-matches winless run (D5-L6) when they visited the capital city on Matchday 16. After a gutsy goalless draw against Brentford in London, they are 22nd in the standings with 12 points and it seems the Rams are slowly finding their feet at this stage of the season (W2, D6, L9). Wayne Rooney is without a defeat in his fourth game in charge of the Ram, but they still remain in the relegation zone. As for Stoke, the Potters head into this match sitting in the 8th place in the standings with 28 and have done well despite missing key players. The Potters are set to visit Derby at their Pride Park for their latest EFL league game, on the back of a 1-2 away defeat against Cardiff on Tuesday.
Derby’s start of the campaign represents their worst to a season since setting the negative Premier League record in 2007-08. However, they are now healthy nine points from the rock-bottom Sheffield Wed following the draw against the Bees in midweek. The Rams have won just two games all season and are yet to register a victory at Pride Park. The quartet Rooney, Liam Rosenior, Shay Given, and Justin Walker oversaw two defeats after Phillip Cocu's exit on 14 November, but the Wycombe, Coventry, Millwall, and Brentford games were the first with Rooney in sole charge of the Rams.
A four-game unbeaten run bodes well for the Rams, especially after they frustrated Brentford on Wednesday, as the Bees had to settle for a point after being held to a goalless draw at home by the Rams in a match where neither side managed a shot on target. The visitors rarely threatened and were happy to hold out for a draw.
Their Saturday’s opponents Stoke City have a few injury concerns to deal with. Veteran striker Lee Gregory, former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel, centre-back Harry Souttar, Scotland international Steven Fletcher, midfielder Jordan Thompson, goalkeepers Angus Gunn and Adam Davies, and Wales international Joe Allen are all out due to injuries. Despite missing key players, Michael O'Neill's side has enjoyed some good performances, and the Potters are well-positioned to be in contention for the promotion spots.
However, their last league game saw them lose at home against Cardiff, another side pushing for the playoffs. This was a meeting of two in-form teams who had both kept clean sheets in each of their three previous matches. Stoke offered little in the final third for much of the first half but neither did Cardiff, whose efforts amounted to a long-range shot from Harry Wilson. Nevertheless, Stoke were in front after a helpless Morrison deflected the ball in his own net. However, goals from Gletzel and Morrison completed the Bluebirds' comeback, for their fourth win on the trot.

These two teams have 4 wins each from their 10 most recent head-to-head matches. The rams are undefeated against Stoke in their last three meetings (W1, D2) and have won convincingly in their last home match against the Potters (4-0).
Derby’s two wins in the campaign so far came away from home, while Stoke have won 4 times on the road.
Derby will want to continue their unbeaten run under Rooney’s leadership, while Stoke are aiming to get into the play-off mix and to bounce back from a home defeat to Cardiff.
