DERBY VS SWANSEA MATCH ANALYSIS
The Rams put an end to their eleven-matches winless run (D5-L6) at the Den against Millwall on Matchday 16 and they followed it with back-to-back goalless draws against Brentford and Stoke. After Saturday’s match, they remain 22nd in the standings with 13 points (W2, D7, L9). As for Swansea, they have accumulated 33 points from their first 18 league fixtures which have lifted them up to 3rd place in the table. At the weekend, they won the South Wales derby as they defeated Cardiff (0-2) at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Derby’s start of the campaign represents their worst to a season since setting the negative Premier League record in 2007-08. However, they are now healthy ten points from the rock-bottom Sheffield Wed following the goalless draws against the Bees in midweek and Stoke on Saturday. The Rams have won just two games all season and are yet to register a victory at Pride Park. The quartet Rooney, Liam Rosenior, Shay Given, and Justin Walker oversaw two defeats after Phillip Cocu's exit on 14 November, but the last five games have been with Rooney in sole charge of the Rams.
Derby County missed the chance to move out of the Championship's bottom three as they played out a goalless draw with Stoke. A fine performance from Bursik helped Stoke secure a point as he had a good day against the Rams. The result means Derby remain in 22nd place in the Championship table, but victory against the Potters would have taken them out of the drop zone.
Swansea, on the other hand, have done brilliantly under Steve Cooper’s in his first managerial job despite limited resources and a small squad. They are where they want to be – in the play-offs contention. Swansea are three points off the top of the Championship, which makes the goalless draw at home against leaders Bournemouth on Matchday 17 more disappointing. The Welsh team has lost only three matches since a defeat in the last season's play-offs, which is impressive in its own right. They still continue to look like a team capable of mounting another promotion push.
On Saturday, Swansea were close to their best as they claimed a comfortable derby win over 10-man Cardiff City. Jamal Lowe scored a goal in each half as Swansea secured victory against a Bluebirds side who had Joe Ralls sent off midway through the second half. A switch to 4-4-2 from 4-2-3-1 had paid off handsomely for Harris with Cardiff picking up 12 points from four games, but we’ll see whether he will stick to the same game-plan against the Rams next.

Derby are unbeaten in their last six league matches against Swansea City (W3 D3), while Swansea have also won only one of their last eight away league games against Derby (D3 L4).
Wayne Rooney is without a defeat in his fifth game in sole charge of the Rams, but they still remain in the relegation zone. Nevertheless, it seems like the Rams are slowly finding their feet at this stage of the season.
Swansea haven’t conceded more than twice in any of their last 31 league games, and have twice as many wins on the road (4) than defeats. The Swans aim to build on n impressive 2-0 win over Cardiff. Since the Welsh outfit has been excellent at the back of late, a low-scoring affair is on the cards at Pride Park.
BettingKick’s prediction for the Derby vs Swansea match is: Under 2.5 goals
