Two losses in a row is not a familiar feeling for Dortmund who can erase bad memories from the last week if they win against Freiburg on Saturday at the Signal Iduna Park.
After they lost in the Bundesliga vs Augsburg at the weekend, there was a German derby with Bayern in the Supercup to send some positive vibes for the rest of the year. Corentin Tolisso opened the scoring following a swift counter-attack, finishing on the rebound from close range after his initial shot had been saved by Hitz but BVB pushed for an equalizer, Mahmoud Dahoud could only fire over, Reus had a shot saved by Manuel Neuer. Thomas Müller had better composure at the other end with a well-placed header at the back post to double Bayern’s lead, but Julian Brandt kept Dortmund in the game just before half-time, drilling in a superb shot past Neuer.
Thomas Meunier could have pulled Dortmund level within seconds of the restart, but Haaland did the job later, collecting Thomas Delaney's pass to smash in the equalizer. The 20-year-old could have given the visitors the lead but this time Neuer read his intentions and made a big save to keep the teams on level terms. Kimmich pounced on a loose ball in midfield late on, exchanging passes with Robert Lewandowski and flicking the ball into the net at the second attempt after Hitz blocked his first shot for second defeat for Dortmund in one week, both times from Bavarians because Felix Uduokhai and Daniel Caligiuri extended Augsburg's perfect start to the season, as the and beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 last Saturday.
The good news for Favre is that Reus made his first competitive start in 239 days here after recovering from injury and that Brandt scored for the first time since 18 January 2020, ending a 20-game goal drought.
Dortmund: Bürki – Can, Hummels (c), Akanji – Meunier, Bellingham, Witsel, Guerreiro – Sancho, Reyna – Haaland
Doubtful: Bürki (illness), Sancho (illness)
Out: Hazard (muscular), Morey (thigh), Schmelzer (knee), Zagadou (knee)

Nils Petersen scored for the second game in a row, but his Freiburg side was held to a draw at home by Wolfsburg, with back-up goalkeeper Pavao Pervan in inspired form. Petersen opened the scoring early on for the second league game on the bounce. His glancing header from Vincenzo Grifo's corner proved too hot for Pavao Pervan to handle – the second-choice Wolfsburg goalkeeper in to start for Koen Casteels, who had pulled up in the warm-up. Petersen took his tally to 77 goals in 216 Bundesliga appearances. Freiburg had more chances to extend their lead through Grifo, but Wolfsburg was rewarded for their efforts three minutes before the break. Josip Brekalo fired a free-kick at goal from the edge of the home side's penalty area, with a deflection from Roland Sallai in the wall sending the ball into the back of the net.
Freiburg thought they had gone behind again after 58 minutes. Lucas Höler had the ball in the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside after he'd latched onto the rebound from Sallai’s initial shot. Debutant Baptiste Santamaria almost had a first Bundesliga goal but saw his rocket-shot from 25 yards superbly tipped onto the post by Pervan on 64 minutes. Freiburg continued to pile on the pressure and the best chance to win the game fell to Höler in added time after he was played in on goal by Wout Weghorst's wayward back-pass. The Freiburg forward couldn't find a finish past Pervan, though, as the Wolves drew their second straight Bundesliga game. Freiburg scored the second-most goals from set-pieces last season, and have already produced two in two games in 2020/21.
Freiburg: Müller – Schmid, Lienhart, Heintz, Günter (c) – Sallai, Santamaria, Höfler, Grifo – Höler, Petersen
Doubtful: -
Out: Flekken (elbow), Haberer (ankle), Til (ankle)
Coach: Christian Streich

Dortmund is having trouble playing against a deep positioned defense and Augsburg caught them on counters. Against Bayern, they looked much better but with the Freiburg style similar to Augsburg both teams to score will be our preferred option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
