Erling Haaland tore apart RB Leipzig's defense last time out and will be eager to add more to his Bundesliga records for Borussia Dortmund against Mainz on Saturday.
The records continue to fold for Haaland in the Bundesliga in the black-and-yellow of Dortmund. BVB's No.9 hit his 24th and 25th goals in the German top-flight in a 3-1 win at RB Leipzig last weekend, taking his tally to a record 25 strikes in 25 matches. Dortmund's No.9 has scored 21 of those 25 goals in the second half of games. The win over Die Roten Bullen also witnessed the continued return to form of Jadon Sancho, who assisted Haaland's first and scored the opener himself to make it back-to-back games with a goal and assist in the Bundesliga.
In an otherwise perfect evening in Leipzig, one major negative came with the news of Axel Witsel's torn Achilles tendon. The Belgian will be out for the foreseeable future, which opens a spot in midfield for the likes of Emre Can, Julian Brandt, and Jude Bellingham. Can looks most likely to play alongside Thomas Delaney, although Bellingham returned to team training this week. Otherwise, Edin Terzic should refrain from changing his winning side.
Dortmund: Bürki - Meunier, Akanji, Hummels, Guerreiro - Can, Delaney - Sancho, Reus (c), Reyna - Haaland
Out: Hazard (thigh), Schmelzer (knee), Witsel (Achilles tendon)
Doubtful: Bellingham (foot)
Coach: Edin Terzic
Mainz is looking for inspiration having watched both of their nearest rivals in the relegation battle - Schalke and Bielefeld - pick up victories last weekend, while Mainz suffered a Rhein-Main derby defeat at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt. It was the first game under new coach Bo Svensson, and the Dane will be looking to call upon the recent past for his side's trip north to Dortmund.
Jonathan Burkardt and Mateta were the heroes last season when Mainz took all three points from the Signal Iduna Park in a 2-0 win. Mateta has been on the bench for three of the last four league games, but the Frenchman's presence in the Dortmund box could be invaluable this time around. The 05ers have won two of their last three visits to the Signal Iduna Park having gone winless in each of their first 11 trips to Dortmund beforehand. Mainz's six points and 11 defeats from the opening 15 matches of the campaign are two negative records for the club in the top flight.
Mainz: Zentner - Brosinski, St. Juste, Hack, Niakhate - Latza (c), Barreiro - Burkardt, Stöger, Boetius - Mateta
Out: Kunde (knee)
Doubtful: Kilian (match fitness)
Coach: Bo Svensson

Dortmund has won four of their 5 competitive fixtures so far under interim coach Terzic since he took over from Lucien Favre. With Mainz struggling and Haaland in splendid form, a home win is the most reasonable betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
