Borussia Dortmund and Zenit Saint Petersburg are in a must-win mode after their losses in the first round of the UCL, so their encounter at the Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday should be more than interesting.
Erling Haaland continued where he left off last season, with his goal in Dortmund's 3-0 derby victory over Schalke on Saturday making it seven in eight games across all competitions this term. His chipped finish for Dortmund's second of the match with his improving right foot made it 23 goals in 26 competitive outings for the Norwegian since he arrived at the club in January. Only Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski (15) scored more Champions League goals than Haaland (10) last season.
England winger Jadon Sancho and American American teenager Gio Reyna have been playing in support of the prolific Norwegian, but they could be rotated with a more experienced Marco Reus pushing for a start and searching for his minutes. In Reyna and Bellingham, Dortmund has had two 17-year-olds in their average first XI this term. Haaland is a relative veteran at 20.
Mahmoud Dahoud could also start in midfield alongside Axel Witsel, who scored 22 goals in 180 appearances for Zenit between 2012 and 2017. Witsel won a league and cup title in his time with Wednesday's visitors to Germany, and his old club were domestic double winners in the 2019/20 season. Dahoud is started to show something of his potential and could be like reinforcement for Dortmund in a new season.
Emre Can is suspended following a red card in BVB's final Champions League match of last season against Paris Saint-Germain. If Lucien Favre reverts to a back three then the experienced Lukasz Piszczek could replace him.
Dortmund: Bürki - Piszczek, Hummels (c), Akanji - Meunier, Dahoud, Witsel, Guerreiro - Brandt - Reus, Haaland
Out: Can (suspended), Schmelzer (knee), Zagadou (knee)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Lucien Favre
Like Dortmund who was defeated 3-1 away to Lazio despite a fine goal from Haaland, Zenit also lost their opening Champions League fixture this season. Surprisingly, they have been punished in injury-time by Belgian champions Club Brugge in their 2-1 defeat in Europe. That was just a sample of more to come, for the weekend, Sergei Semak's team then suffered another home loss by the same scoreline against Rubin Kazan on Saturday. Zenit will be relying on experienced and often criticized Croatian defender Lovren - a summer signing from Liverpool - to tighten things at the back in Dortmund, while giant Russian international Artem Dzyuba will pose a threat upfront. Lovren, although fluent in German, has never played in the Bundesliga.
Former Barcelona attacker Malcolm has not played since the start of October due to injury, but Iranian Sardar Azmoun is another man to watch out for. Like Dzyuba, he has six league goals this season and got 17 in the last season.
Zenit: Kerzhakov - Karavaev, Lovren, Rakitskiy, Santos - Mostovoi, Ozdoyev, Barrios, Driussi - Azmun, Dzyuba (c)
Out: Chistyakov (ineligible)
Doubtful: Malcolm (knock)
Coach: Sergei SemakBest betting sites

Zenit played below their usual level against Brugge and with defeat in the domestic league vs Rubin, confidence is on low and the pressure for a positive result is alarming. Dortmund has a great roster of very good teenagers ready to punish every error and the home team has individual and team quality to win in this game.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
