The two top scorers in 2021 collide on Saturday when Andre Silva and Eintracht Frankfurt host Robert Lewandowski and Bayern Munich.
Frankfurt has been the form team in the Bundesliga in 2021, climbing from ninth at Christmas to now sit third in the table, only five points behind second-place RB Leipzig. One of the reasons for that huge upturn is Silva, who has the most goals of any player in Europe’s top five leagues this calendar year (nine). That includes at least one in six of the last seven games, setting a new club record for 18 after 21 matchdays. One of Eintracht’s just two league defeats this season came against Bayern – albeit their heaviest loss under Adi Hütter (5-0) – but the Eagles will have fond memories of the last time they hosted the champions, thrashing them 5-1 in November 2019.
Silva's form means January returnee Luka Jovic will likely have to settle for a place on the bench again - provided he passes a late fitness test, while the back three is now settled with Tuta, Martin Hinteregger, and Evan N’Dicka. One change is enforced in midfield, though, with Djibril Sow suspended for five yellow cards, so former Bayern man Sebastian Rode is in line to cover.
Frankfurt: Trapp - Tuta, Hinteregger, N'Dicka - Toure, Rode, Hasebe (c), Kostic - Kamada, Younes - Silva
Out: Sow (suspended)
Doubtful: Durm (knock)
Coach: Adi Hütter
Bayern’s first game as club world champions didn’t exactly go to plan last Monday as they had to fight back to earn a 3-3 draw against promoted Arminia Bielefeld at the Allianz Arena. It saw an almost customary goal for Lewandowski – his 25th of the Bundesliga campaign setting a new league record after 21 matchdays – as well as rather rarer strikes for Corentin Tolisso and Alphonso Davies as the leaders saw their advantage cut to five points after Leipzig had beaten Augsburg. Joshua Kimmich was rested from the start last time out but is set to be restored in midfield alongside Leon Goretzka, who is closer to full match fitness than Javi Martinez after the pair missed the trip to Qatar.
Thomas Müller is unavailable while Serge Gnabry is still some days of a return from a thigh injury he suffered in the FIFA Club World Cup final. Wing options are therefore currently limited to Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman after Douglas Costa was ruled out with a hairline fracture to his metatarsal. Across Europe's top five leagues, Bayern is the only defending champions that occupy first place in the current league standings.
Bayern: Neuer (c) - Süle, Boateng, Alaba, Davies - Kimmich, Goretzka - Sane, Tolisso, Coman - Lewandowski
Out: Costa (metatarsal), Gnabry (hamstring), Müller (not included), Nianzou (thigh), Nübel (ankle), Pavard (not included)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Hansi Flick

Bayern is this season's highest-scoring team with a club-record of 61 goals. Frankfurt is next on the list with 43. Both teams to score should be a sure betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
