Will free-scoring Andre Silva be stopped by Sead Kolasinac when Eintracht Frankfurt host Schalke on Sunday?
Portuguese striker Andre Silva has been in fine form for Frankfurt in recent weeks, his brace in last Saturday's 2-0 win at Mainz bringing up his 11th and 12th goals of the campaign, leaving him third in the race for this season's Torjögerkanone behind Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland. Silva is the undisputed leader of the line - especially with Bas Dost having recently departed for Club Brugge - but there is a three-way battle to occupy two spots behind him, with Amin Younes, Daichi Kamada, and Aymen Barkok each impressing when given the chance in recent weeks.
The former two were preferred in the DFB Cup on Tuesday, although with Frankfurt losing 4-1 to Bayer Leverkusen - Die Werkself avenging their defeat to Die Adler in the league two weeks ago - coach Adi Hütter may shuffle his pack. Club captain David Abraham could play his penultimate game before retiring to Argentina, although Tuta could deputize once more. Luka Jović came back to the club as a loaned player from Real Madrid but he will probably miss this game.
Frankfurt: Trapp - Abraham (c), Hinteregger, N'Dicka - Durm, Sow, Hasebe, Kostic - Kamada, Younes - Silva
Out: Ache (hamstring)
Doubtful: Willems (match fitness)
Coach: Adi Hütter
Silva and Frankfurt would no doubt have preferred to face Schalke a few weeks ago, before Kolasinac return and before Matthew Hoppe arrested a 30-game winless run for his club with a hat-trick in last Saturday's 4-0 destruction of Hoffenheim. Kolasinac recently came back to the club on loan from Arsenal. The Bosnia-Herzegovina left-back previously had four goals and 13 assists in 123 games in all competitions for the Royal Blues. Hoppe became the first American in history to score a Bundesliga hat-trick in last week's 4-0 win over Hoffenheim. He was also the club's youngest at 19 years, nine months, and 28 days.
Christian Groß - Schalke's fourth coach already this season - lined his side up in a nominal 4-4-2 last weekend and is unlikely to change much of his starting XI, meaning former Frankfurt midfielder Omar Mascarell, the club captain before Kolasinac's return, will have to settle for a place on the bench at best if he overcomes his thigh injury. Otherwise, Groß has confirmed that Ralf Fährmann will be the club's No.1 going forward, with former Frankfurt man Frederik Rönnow given the chance to prove his worth in DFB Cup games.
Schalke: Fährmann - Becker, Kabak, Nastasic, Kolasinac (c) - Schöpf, Stambouli, Serdar, Harit - Hoppe, Uth
Out: Bentaleb (not included), Ludewig (foot), Paciencia (knee), Skrzybski (knee)
Doubtful: Boujellab (ill), Mascarell (thigh), Sane (knee)
Coach: Christian Gross

Frankfurt's victory over Mainz last weekend was their third victory on the bounce; their best run in the league since early 2019 when they won six consecutive games. The home win is expected but the best betting option regarding Frankfurt is both teams to score.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
