England meet Germany at the Wembley Stadium (London) in the EURO 2020 Group Round of 16 clash and the game kicks off at 5 pm (UK) on Tuesday, June 29. Read our reason for England vs Germany prediction and betting tips.
OLD FOES BATTLE IT OUT AGAIN
England and Germany face off the first time in nearly four years after a forgettable goalless draw at the back end of 2017. England came through the group stage without conceding a goal but they have seriously underwhelmed. Raheem Sterling has scored both their goals so far. Germany were lucky to even make it through the group. They had to come from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Hungary in their final game. The Three Lions should be quietly confident against Germany but it wouldn't be a surprise if Joachim Loew's side turned up as they so often do in the knockout stage of major tournaments.
ENGLAND TO SHADE VICTORY
England didn’t concede during the group stage, but they haven’t been that impressive on the other side of the pitch. Two goals from Raheem Sterling was all this team produced in the first three matches, which is, in our opinion, way too low, especially for a favorite that aims to win the title here.Southgate’s side looked pale, to be honest. We can argue about the statistics all we want, but overall, England’s performances were way below the expected.
Yes, they have nine matches without a defeat and eight wins during that span, but we aren’t impressed with how this team plays. Albions’ most recent matches were all low-scoring affairs, with five of them ending with just one or no goals. As we saw already, Southgate’s tactic is to protect his own net and only then attack. The bookies though have made England the slight favourites ahead of their colossal Last 16 clash on Tuesday.
TIP #1: Games between these nations are invariably close contests, with five of the last seven meetings decided by just the odd goal and another drawn. Looking at the odds, we back the Three Lions to prevail by any one-goal margin.
GERMANY TO BREAK ENGLISH HEARTS AGAIN?
Joachim Low has promised that we will see a ‘different’ Germany in the knockouts, but they will have to step things up against England. Germany kicked off with a 1-0 loss to France, when decidedly second best, but bounced back with a fine 4-2 triumph over defending champions Portugal. Die Mannschaft were then expected to brush aside Hungary in Munich but had to come from behind twice to secure a jittery 2-2 stalemate.
Though, we need to say that results aren’t showing Germany’s dominance in all those matches. They always controlled the tempo and the rhythm, constantly attacking but without a proper finish. The lack of one typical target man creates problems for Low, but he does have plenty of attacking weapons to play with, including Havertz, Chelsea team-mate Timo Werner, Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller. Than again, against England, it’s going to be a totally different match.
TIP #2: It seems like the concensus is that the result could be decided in normal time here. That’s why we favour the odds for England to win in extra-time and England on penalties

England and Germany have adopted contrasting styles of play at Euro 2020 and their Wembley showdown promises to be a fascinating affair. The Three Lions have been rock-solid but a little stodgy, whereas Die Mannschaft look good going forward but have been very open at the back. Germany’s defensive issues could give England hope.
Final BettingKick’s England vs Germany prediction is: Both teams to score.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
