England host Wales when two national teams lock horns in a
friendly international at Wembley Stadium (London) on Thursday, October 8 and
the game kicks off at 8pm (UK).
MATCH PREVIEW
England sits below Belgium in 2nd place with 4 points from the first two rounds in their Nations League A Group 2. They won against Iceland (0-1) in their group opener and were held to a goalless away draw with Denmark in round two. As for their neighbours, Wales head to Wembley in good mood after September wins over Finland (0-1) and Bulgaria(1-0) took them to the top of their Nations League B Group 4 and extended their unbeaten run to eight games.
MATCH ANALYSIS
Last month, Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden and Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood were dropped from an England squad after a breach of Covid-19 quarantine rules in Iceland and before the Thursday's game the headlines are similar with Tammy Abraham, Ben Chilwell and Jadon Sancho being told to delay their arrival at England's training camp after they celebrated Abraham's birthday together, thus breaching the six-people-gatherings rule in Britain. Otherwise, Raheem Sterling has been ruled out because of injury, while Chelsea full-back Reece James has been promoted to the senior squad from England Under-21s. Southgate has also rewarded an in-form uncapped trio of Calvert-Lewin, Harvey Barnes and promising young defender Bukayo Saka with places in England's squad. Amidst plenty of negative spotlight some of his men received recently, Southgate will want less turbulence for the Wembley triple-header, where the focus in the first game against Wales should be solely on form and performance.
As for Ryan Giggs' Welsh squad,Gareth Bale will be out with the injury he picked up on international duty last month , while David Brooks and Joe Morrell are also doubtful for the match. Giggs has yet a decision to make whether he will include Euro 2016 veterans Ashley Williams and Chris Gunter in his squad as both are without clubs since summer. Aberdeen winger Ryan Hedges, Luton full-back Rhys Norrington-Davies and Hibernian striker Christian Doidge will likely feature for the Dragons. Finally, Aaron Ramsey will miss Wales' friendly with the Three Lions after his club Juventus put their players into a secure 'bubble'. Wales and England have met 102 times so far and Wales has since lost 67 times, drawn 21 and won 14 matches, where the last victory came in 1984.

It doesn't matter what the sport is, Wales v England is always a passionate affair. October 8 will be the first time these two national teams meet since England won a Euro 2016 group stage match (2-1) in Lens. The behind-closed-doors Wembley friendly will be a good preparation for England's boss Southgate for Nations League home games Belgium and Denmark that follow, while Wales side next travels to the Republic of Ireland and Bulgaria. Never mind this being an exhibition, the build-up is there and for the players and the fans the game is huge.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
