Everton host Burnley at the Goodison Park (Liverpool) in the 4th round of the 2021/22 Premier League season and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Monday, September 13. Read our reasons for Everton vs Burnley prediction and betting tips.
EVERTON VS BURNLEY: STAS & FACTS
After winning four of their first six EPL meetings with Burnley (L2), Everton have surprisingly won just three of the last eight against the Clarets in the competition (D1, L4). Burnley have won two of their last four away league games against Everton (L2), as many as they had in their previous 16 visits to Goodison Park, but each of the Clarets’ last four wins in the competition have come away from home. Interestingly, just one of the last 15 league meetings between Everton and Burnley has been drawn, with each side winning seven each. The player to keep an eye on on Monday night is Dominic Calvert-Lewin who has scored in all three of Everton’s Premier League games this season.
EVERTON VS BURNLEY: PRE-MATCH TALK
Everton will be looking to continue their encouraging start to their Premier League season when they entertain Burnley on Monday night. The appointment of Rafa Benitez was met with backlash by some sections of the Blues fanbase but seven points from three games represents a strong start for the former Liverpool manager. The Toffees have recorded two-goal wins over both Southampton and Brighton either side of an entertaining 2-2 with Leeds at Elland Road. Benitez will be aiming to further endear himself to the Everton faithful when Burnley pitch up at Goodison Park on Monday night.
As for Burnley, it hasn’t been the perfect start to the new season for Sean Dyche and his side, as they are yet to pick up a win in the EPL. They were denied the first three points of the season before the break in domestic action, after being held by Leeds at Turf Moor. Leeds equalised with just four minutes remaining in that fixture, which was a hammer blow for the Clarets. Nonetheless, they are unlikely to let that result affect them too much and should be more defensively solid. Sean Dyche has worked wonders at Turf Moor but he perhaps now faces his biggest challenge in steering his troops to a seventh successive season of top-flight football.
EVERTON VS BURNLEY: TEAM NEWS
Dominic Calvert-Lewin pulled out of the England squad with a quad injury and will need assessing, but Seamus Coleman pulled out of the Ireland squad midway through the break and will definitely miss out for the home side. Benitez will hope to have recovered Ben Godfrey from COVID-19 during the international break and he might be needed with Yerry Mina still a doubt. Finally, James Rodriguez is not expected to feature on Monday against Burnley.
On the other hand, Burnley fans will hope to see big money signing Maxwel Cornet's debut for the Clarets. He spent much of last season at left-back but can play anywhere on that flank. Fellow new signings Connor Roberts and Nathan Collins though are expected to miss out through injury on Monday night. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Josh Brownhill used out wide if Johann Gudmundsson doesn't return quite right from the international break with Iceland, with Jack Cork returning to the side.

Burnley had a good record against Everton last season, as they took four points from the Toffees. Their win last season came at Goodison in March, as they claimed a 2-1 success. However, that was only their second win at Goodison in the Premier League era. Burnley may have beaten Everton at Goodison last season, but it is hard to support their chances given their start to the season. The Toffees should get the victory in front of their home fans, but it will likely be a game of few goals.
