EVERTON VS CHELSEA MATCH ANALYSIS
Everton’s unbeaten run of 5 games came to an end (W4-D1) at Southampton (2-0) in the sixth week of the Premier League and they followed it with four defeats in the next six games (W1, D1) to fall to 9th place with 17 points. Their only win in this period (W1-L3) was a tough away win in London against Fulham (2-3), and against relegation candidate Burnley, they came away only with a point (1-1). As for Chelsea, they are now undefeated in 16 matches in all competitions and have won eight games out of the last nine (D1) in all competitions. In the PL they are unbeaten in the last nine games (W5-D4), which put them in the 3rd place in the table with 22 points, and could finish the weekend in 1st if the results go their way.
After topping the league for a couple of weeks early in the season, Everton have fallen down the table. They have also shipped two or more goals in six of their last nine Premier League fixtures, and have not kept a clean sheet since Matchday 1, which is untypical of Ancelotti’s sides. They did not manage to bounce back after a win in London against the Cottagers three weeks ago, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side picking up maximum points at the Goodison last weekend and Burnley nicking a point at the Turf Moor most recently.
The hosts made a lightning start last Saturday, Robbie Brady's strike from outside the box giving them the lead in the third minute. Everton were vulnerable in the early stages of the match but improved after an injury to Fabian Delph forced Ancelotti to reshape the squad. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Premier League's leading scorer this season, scored the equaliser just before the break. From that moment onwards, Everton always looked more likely to win it, but the Claret and Blues manage to hold for a draw.
After securing the top spot in their Champions League group E, Lampard can rest the key players for the next Premier League fixture against Everton in a midweek CL fixture against Krasnodar. Olivier Giroud, who scored all four goals against the Spaniards and also at the weekend against Leeds, is expected to lead the attack again at the weekend. Chelsea have now lost just once since the start of the season and are unbeaten in 16 matches in all competitions (W11-D6-L1).
As for their most recent Premier League win against Leeds, Giroud marked his first league start of the season with his fifth goal of the week, after Bamford gave Leeds an early lead. Chelsea went ahead after Zouma’s header, and substitute Christian Pulisic added a late third, with the United States winger becoming the 13th different player to score for Chelsea in the Premier League this season.

They have also kept a clean sheet in six of their last eight Premier League meetings with Everton.
Chelsea have won 18 of their 38 head-to-head matches against the Toffees, with Everton winning 8 in that time.
Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the Premier League’s top scorer so far this season with 11 goals in 11 games and, on the other hand, Olivier Giroud has scored in each of his last six Premier League starts for Chelsea.
