Everton host Man City at the Goodison Park (Liverpool) in the postponed Round 16 of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8.15 pm (UK) on Wednesday, February 17. Read our reasons for Everton vs Man City prediction and betting tips.
Everton suffered a surprise home defeat by Fulham at Goodison Park (2-0) and will have to produce a much-improved performance if they are to take anything against City. They welcome the Citizens sitting in 7th place, pushing for one of the top-six spots that promise European football next season. On the other hand, Pep Guardiola’s team beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening to go seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table. They are on a record-breaking run of 16 consecutive competitive victories and the title looks theirs to lose.
The Toffees come into the last weekend just three points behind fourth-placed Liverpool with two games in hand and it would be a huge feather in Ancelotti's cap if he delivered a Champions League slot in his first full season. But while Everton have impressed this term they have also thrown in the odd dodgy display to lose momentum, crashing against West Ham (1-0), Newcastle (2-0) and lastly, Fulham at Goodison since the turn of the year.
This result came after a thrilling 5-4 victory after extra time in their FA Cup fifth round clash vs Tottenham in midweek. Everton turned their attention back to Premier League action, but It was all too clear just how much that FA Cup match took out of the Toffees physically as they headed into this encounter with a number of injury doubts, especially after Dominic Calvert-Lewin limped off with a hamstring injury during the victory over Tottenham.
Meanwhile, City enter this match unbeaten in 22 games across all competitions and in confident mood following their 3-0 Premier League win at Etihad on Saturday . The Citizens want to keep their quest for an unprecedented quadruple alive as they have progressed to the semi-finals of the FA Cup last Wednesday and are already in the finals of the Carabao Cup, where they face their Saturday’s opponents, Tottenham, in April. Of course, Champions League and the Premier League are all on cards, too.
City have been sensational at both ends of the pitch during their 16-match winning streak, scoring 43 goals, conceding just five and keeping 11 clean sheets. In 11 of their 16 successive wins, City have been ahead at half-time and while Everton look less of a threat without a recognised striker, City have achieved the opposite thanks to Ilkay Gundogan. The German has scored eight times in his last seven league matches to take his top-flight tally for the season to 11.

Everton meet Man City having won just one of their last 14 Premier League games against them (D4 L9), winning all the way back in January 2017 at Goodison Park. The hosts have just one win from their last five league fixtures while the visitors are unbeaten in the league since November. To conclude, Everton face the unenviable assignment of preventing Man City from winning a record 10th opening match in a calendar year and from completing 17th straight victory in all competitions.
