Everton host Manchester Utd at Goodison Park (Liverpool) in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Wednesday, December 23.
EVERTON VS MAN UTD MATCH ANALYSIS
On September 23 Everton put five (5-2) behind the League One side Fleetwood on the road to progress to the fourth round where they hosted the Hammers and saw them off with another comfortable 4-1 win to set up the quarter-final match against Man Utd who opened the competition in the third round with a 0-3 win against Championship outfit Luton and won their 4th round tie against Brighton with the same result on the road.
The Toffees have now registered probably their biggest three wins of the campaign so far against Chelsea (1-0), Leicester in midweek (0-2), and arsenal at the weekend to move to 4th with 26 points in the league. They are in fine form and it is obvious that some of Ancelotti’s class has finally started been rubbing off on the team as well. The red devils are the toughest opponents they are facing in the Carabao Cup so far, but after recent results against the other two top Premier League sides, they will be confident coming into this match.
As for their most recent League Cup win on September 30, Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored his second hat-trick of the season as Everton booked their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals after Richarlison had earlier put Everton back in front soon after Snodgrass’ equaliser. Key players like Allan and Lucas Digne are ruled out for the home side against Man Utd, while Andre Gomes is a doubt after missing the win over Arsenal at the weekend with a slight hamstring issue.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, on the other hand, have been in a remarkable away form, winning 10 games on the trot and are within reach of the top of the Premier League table at 3rd. However, going out of the Champions League could dent their confidence and heap an extra bit of pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not to lose this quarter-final tie.
Their most recent win in the Carabao cup came on September 30, as well, when they beat the Seagulls 3-0 to reach the last-eight. They beat Brighton for the second time in four days, but this was a less frantic and fun affair, played out by largely second-string sides and in periods of torrential rain. In making 10 changes, Solskjaer gave another opportunity to his second string to demonstrate the depth of the squad, but he will probably field a stronger eleven this time.

Everton have beaten Arsenal, Leicester, and Chelsea in their last three games and will be full of confidence heading into Wednesday's Carabao Cup quarter-final.
Man Utd will also be high on spirits after their 6-2 victory over Leeds on Sunday. The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last seven domestic fixtures and have already won at Goodison Park this season.
Everton, the top-scoring team in this season’s Carabao Cup (12), have reached the League Cup quarter-final in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1986/87 and 1987/88, while United are looking to win consecutive away matches against Everton in all competitions for the first time since September 2007.
The game should not lack entertainment, so BettingKick’s prediction for the Everton vs Man Utd match is: Both teams to score.
