EVERTON VS SHEFFIELD WED MATCH ANALYSIS
Everton come into this game following a 2-1 win over Nuno Espirito Santo's Wolves having had a twelve-day rest from football. Everton are sixth in the Premier League table and a high-flying Premier League outfit welcome the Owls after beating second-tier strugglers Rotherham 2-1 at home in the third round of the FA Cup. Sheffield Wed, on the other hand, beat Exeter City 2-0 in the third round of the FA Cup on January 9 and had even more rest than the host coming into this match. After losing for on the trot in the league in the first half of December, they are now unbeaten in five (W4, D1) in all competitions, but remain second-bottom in the Championship table.
It looks like some of Ancelotti’s class has finally started rubbing off on the team as well. Everton have done well so far despite the absence of James Rodriguez in midfield for most parts of the season. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has arguably been the Toffees standout performer so far, with the England international scoring 19 goals in all competitions and impressing with his all-round play. Everton are looking to win the third consecutive match in all competitions.
The Toffees maintained their challenge for a Champions League spot with victory at Wolves thanks to Michael Keane's 77th-minute winner. With nearly two weeks without a game, it is currently unclear who is available for Everton from their previous list of injured players. Suspended for their next Premier League match, it is safe to say Abdoulaye Doucoure will start against Sheffield Wed on Sunday.
The Owls are preparing for this match still being managerless after Tony Pulis got the sack after 10 matches in charge with the club next to the bottom of the Championship. Former Barnsley manager Jose Morais and ex-Brighton and Sunderland boss Gus Poyet are the names that have been thrown in the mix, but Owls first-team coach Neil Thompson will continue to act as an interim manager until a more permanent appointment is made.
To his credits, he managed to motivate the players who had not been paid their full wages for November, as they put financial worries and Tony Pulis' sacking behind them to beat Middlesbrough and Derby in the League and to progress to 1/16-finals of the FA Cup with a win against League Two side Exeter. However, they have been extremely goal-shy this season, with a mere 14 goals in 22 and the fact that they have failed to score in three of their four previous meetings with Everton doesn’t bode well.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
