Everton host Southampton at the Goodison Park (Liverpool) in the 26th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Monday, March 1st. Read our reasons for Everton vs Southampton prediction and betting tips.
Everton are feeling good following the first win at Anfield since 1999, planning permission for a new stadium and a new contract for Lucas Digne – all in the space of five days – but major improvement is required at Goodison Park to give it more foundation. Carlo Ancelotti’s team have lost four of their past five Premier League home games, including 2-0 defeats by Fulham and Newcastle, and Southampton offer another test of what the Italian suspects is complacency among his players when facing struggling sides. Ralph Hasenhüttl’s team are sliding towards trouble after losing seven and drawing just one in the last eight league games.
Everton are in seventh place in the Premier League standings and will want to secure European qualification this season. Jubilant Merseyside Derby winners are chasing their first top-six finish in the Premier League since the 2013/14 campaign. In several respects, Southampton are the ideal opposition, with Everton winning by an average margin of 1.86 goals across 14 prior top-flight home head-to-head victories. However, lose this one and that historic Anfield victory is toned down a touch.
It’s a tight race at the moment, and Everton are only five points behind fourth-placed West Ham with 13 games left to play. The Toffees need to build momentum from here on. They face the likes of Southampton, West Brom, Chelsea, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Brighton in their next six league games. On paper, apart from the trip to Stamford Bridge, Everton should look to pick up maximum points from those games. If they manage to do so, the Toffees will stand out as one of the genuine contenders for the top-four spot.
As for Southampton, the new year was looking bright for the Saints when they started with a 1-0 win over Liverpool, ending a four-game winless run that had seen them drop down the table. However, since then the wheels have well and truly fallen off in the Premier League. After climbing to the top of the league table in November, Southampton have dropped down to 14th, getting only a point from the possible 24 in the last eight games. They have won just once in the PL since mid-December and are on a poor run of four consecutive away losses, conceding a shocking 4.25 goals per game across that quartet.
Meanwhile, Hasenhuettl will feel the injury crisis at the club is a never-ending story, with on-loan Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino ruled out of Monday's trip to Everton. Kyle Walker-Peters, Walcott and Diallo have suffered injury setbacks in recent weeks, while midfielder Oriol Romeu is set to miss the rest of the season because of a fractured ankle, which will need surgery. It has hurt them very much this season, but Ralph Hasenhutt's boys do raise their levels when necessary, as seen when beating Liverpool and drawing with Chelsea.

Everton meet Southampton looking to avoid their first league double of losses to the Saints since way back in 1998. The Toffees are unbeaten in their last 15 home Premier League games against Southampton (W10 D5) since then, but Southampton celebrated a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture in October at the St. Mary’s.
However, the home form remains a concern for Everton, who are still winless in PL action here in 2021. It's also relevant that eight of Everton's 12 Premier League wins this season have been away from Goodison - only 35 percent of points have come at home (14/40).

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
