EVERTON VS TOTTENHAM MATCH ANALYSIS
Everton eased through round four with a comfortable 3-0 win over Sheffield Wed to reach the FA Cup fifth round for the first time since 2015-16. They come into this match on the back of a 2-1 away win at Leeds and a 3-3 draw against Man Utd at Old Trafford. They are looking to carry the momentum in the cup where they host Tottenham on Wednesday night. Spurs are going through the motions at the moment after suffering three consecutive league defeats prior to their 2-0 win against West Brom on Saturday. They progressed through this round of the FA Cup after Jose Mourinho's side left it late to see off Wycombe (1-4) and set up the Goodison Park tie.
Everton have done brilliantly so far despite the absence of James Rodriguez in midfield for most parts of the season. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has arguably been the Toffees standout performer so far, with the England international scoring 21 goals in all competitions and impressing with his all-round play. If the Toffees were toothless and simply not up for it against Newcastle (0-2), they showed more mettle at Leeds and Man United, where Calvert-Lewin scored a 90+6 min equalizer.
However, not all was cheery and chirpy post Man Utd match as Carlo Ancelotti broke the news that Toffees could face a frustrating few weeks after James Rodriguez was forced off with a calf injury during Saturday’s draw. The Blues boss will be particularly frustrated to lose the Colombia international now, as Everton face Spurs in the FA Cup on Wednesday night before upcoming top-flight affairs with Man City and Liverpool later this month.
Tottenham’s most recent slump in the top-flight has put a serious dent on the club’s top-four ambitions, with Jose Mourinho’s men currently sitting in sixth place, albeit with a game in hand over most of the clubs above them in the table. However, the season has by no means been a disaster so far, with the North Londoners still competing on all four fronts. Spurs have already booked their place in the final of the Carabao Cup against Man City in April and have qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League.
Tottenham have beaten a non-league outsiders Marine (5-0) prior to their FA Cup win against almost certain Championship relegation candidates Wycombe. However, the match was not as straight forward as the score would suggest. It was Wycombe who struck first when midfielder Fred Onyedinma steered his side into a 25th-minute lead. Gareth Bale leveled things up just before the break but it took until four minutes from time for Harry Winks to put Spurs ahead. Tanguy Ndombele then struck twice in the final three minutes to make it four.

This is the first FA Cup meeting between Everton and Tottenham since the 1994-95 semi-final, with the Toffees winning 4-1 at Elland Road en route to winning the competition – and their last trophy of note.
The Spurs haven’t lost consecutive meetings with Everton in all competitions since December 2012, but have been knocked out of 10 of their last 15 FA Cup ties against fellow Premier League opponents, going out at this stage of the competition last season against Norwich.
Meanwhile, Everton are looking to reach the FA Cup quarter-final for the first time since 2015-16 after also losing their last four ties in the competition against fellow top-flight opponents.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
