Everton host Tottenham at the Goodison Park (Liverpool) in the 32nd round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Friday, April 16. Read our reasons for Everton vs Tottenham prediction and betting tips.
Having already won at Tottenham, Leicester and Liverpool this season, it just rankles a little that Everton on Monday couldn’t manage to impose themselves more on Brighton. All in all, there was a sense that Everton were content to just take the point and run. Starting with Friday’s critical Spurs clash, Ancelotti will need a bolder approach. Meanwhile, Tottenham can only boast one win in four top-flight fixtures following a 3-1 loss to Manchester United on home turf. The Spurs lost ground in the Premier League top-four race as they slipped down to 7th, six points behind the top four, so they now have to get results and wait for the other teams to drop points.
Poor recent results mean that both of these teams are in danger of being cut adrift in the race for European football. For Everton, it’s no win in five competitive matches (D2, L3), with their attack standing out as their biggest issue. After a goalless draw at Brighton, they’ve slipped seven points behind West Ham in fourth, albeit with a game in hand, and their chances of making the leading quartet now look remote. Everton have gone four league games without tasting victory after returning from the international break to draw with Crystal Palace and Brighton.
The Toffees felt the absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front when visiting Albion on Monday and managed just one shot on target during that goalless stalemate. Yerry Mina has been added to the casualty list after picking up a muscle problem at Amex Stadium, while Doucoure, Bernard, and Delph are all absent. Andre Gomes, Allan, Josh King, and Calvert-Lewin should be back in contention to improve Ancelotti’s midfield and attacking options, though.
On the other hand, Tottenham's hopes of finishing in the top-four this season were dealt a huge blow on Sunday as they were beaten 3-1 by Man United. Despite taking the lead through Son Heung-min's opener five minutes before half-time, the Spurs were powerless to stop an impressive United comeback. Visitors scored three times in the second half through goals from Fred, Edinson Cavani, and Mason Greenwood, ensuring they inflicted revenge on the north London club for their 6-1 drubbing at Old Trafford back in October.
It's a rather drastic drop for Tottenham, who were top of the league halfway through December. However, even when Tottenham were top of the league, they received widespread criticism for their negative style of play, which has arguably continued as the season has progressed, just without the results. The defeat has left Spurs six points shy of the top-four and with seven games of the season remaining they will have to quickly try and get Sunday's defeat out of their system ahead of their remaining matches.

Everton meet Tottenham having not done the league double over Spurs since the 1985-86 campaign. However, after their 1-0 win over Spurs in the reverse fixture, the Toffees ended a run of 15 league games without a win against the Spurs, who are unbeaten in their last seven away league games against Everton (W3, D4).
Everton and Tottenham have both seen their Premier League top-four hopes fade over the past month or so, with each side struggling for wins. Their recent head-to-head record also points towards a tight tussle, with two draws and a trio of one-goal victories coming from the last five meetings.
