Juventus continue to fight for a place in the top four when they travel to Fiorentina on Sunday, but the hosts are desperate for points. Read our reasons for Fiorentina vs Juventus prediction and betting tips.
After the 2-1 win over Hellas Verona last time, Fiorentina could win back-to-back games for the first time this season. Fiorentina grabbed a potentially vital victory away to Hellas Verona, despite needing big saves and a goal-line clearance in the first half. The Viola ran the real risk of relegation after one point from four games but went into this trip without suspended Nikola Milenkovic. Hellas wasn’t in better form, losing five of their last six. The hosts created a good scoring opportunity with a quick passing move in the opening three minutes, forcing Bartlomiej Dragowski into a save on Daniel Bessa. At the other end, Dusan Vlahovic’s header skimmed the bar from a free-kick, but Dragowski again had to make a very tricky save on the Kevin Lasagna angled drive from a tight angle. On the resulting corner, Lorenzo Venuti cleared Lasagna’s header off the line. Darko Lazovic also tested the Polish goalkeeper.
Franck Ribery almost gave Fiorentina the lead on the counter, but his low strike was fingertipped round the base of the near post by Marco Silvestri.
Bonaventura came sliding in to meet a Sofyan Amrabat cross and it was deflected inches wide at the near post. On the stroke of half-time, Fiorentina went on the counter, the pull-back was allowed through by a Ribery dummy and Antonin Barak bundled into the back of Bonaventura for a penalty. Vlahovic converted with an excellent spot-kick, right into the near bottom corner despite Silvestri guessing the right side. Marco Davide Faraoni had the ball in the net for 50 minutes, but was offside, while Silvestri palmed a Cristiano Biraghi free-kick over the bar. Fiorentina doubled their lead, as an Erick Pulgar free-kick was knocked down and the deflection fell kindly for Martin Caceres to smash in the rebound from 12 yards. Verona made a triple substitution and immediately got back into the game, as Faraoni got to the back post, nodded a long Mattia Zaccagni ball back across the face of goal for an Eddie Salcedo header at the far stick.
Fiorentina (3-5-2): Dragowski; Milenkovic, Pezzella, Caceres; Venuti, Amrabat, Pulgar, Castrovilli, Birgahi; Vlahovic, Ribery
Suspended: Bonaventura
Injured: Kokorin, Borja Valero
After the Super League controversy, the Bianconeri fight for a place in the Champions League next term and must address their away form in the League. Juventus have only won once in their last five away games in the League. Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo admitted Cristiano Ronaldo could no longer be in the wall for free kicks. The Bianconeri badly needed a result after their 1-0 defeat to Atalanta and had gone behind to a ferocious Gaston Brugman free-kick, but turned it around through Alex Sandro’s career first brace and Matthijs de Ligt to beat Parma 3-1. “We made life difficult for ourselves with the opening goal, then ran a few other risks on set plays, and it’s a pity because we’d done well defending from dead ball situations this season,” Pirlo told the media.
“We did well to turn it around and the win was important for our confidence, as we played well and needed to take home the three points. We have instinctive players but must also give them directions on the positions to hold. They did it better in the second half than the first, especially with the body positioning to receive the ball. We were too distant in the first half and that slowed down the passing movement. Maybe we don’t maintain the same concentration and pace from match to match. Sometimes we are a little slow, we hold onto the ball, allow the opposition to occupy the space and it all grinds to a halt.”
Juventus (4-4-2): Szczesny; Danilo, Bonucci, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Cuadrado, Bentancur, Rabiot, Ramsey; Dybala, Ronaldo
Suspended: none
Injured: Chiesa, Demiral

The Viola won 3-0 in the first leg at the Allianz Stadium and could win two consecutive games against the Bianconeri for the first time since 1998. But Fiorentina hasn’t won both Serie A games against the Old Lady since 1968-69 and will have to face a side that is trying to ensure a place in Europe next term. BettingKick’s Fiorentina vs Juventus prediction is: Both teams to score.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
