Fiorentina will be aiming to put an end to their five-game winless run in Serie A when they host Sassuolo at their Stadio Artemio Franchi on Matchday 12.
Fiorentina has sent their squad and coach Cesare Prandelli into a training retreat after their 3-0 loss to Atalanta. The Viola scraped only two wins, three draws, and six defeats in Serie A this season. They are without a victory in Serie A since October 25 against Udinese, followed by two stalemates with Parma and Genoa, and four losses. The biggest problem is upfront, where Fiorentina scored just one goal in their last six Serie A matches. Sacking Beppe Iachini to bring in Prandelli has also made little difference to their results, as the new boss has one point from four Serie A games. His only victory was 1-0 away to Udinese in extra time in the Coppa Italia on November 25. Gaetano Castrovilli made his return against Atalanta over the weekend but is still carrying a niggle and remains a doubt for this game. Fiorentina will need their stars to step up to the plate in this fixture.
Fiorentina (4-4-2): Bartlomiej Dragowski; Cristiano Biraghi, German Pezzella, Nikola Milenkovic, Martin Caceres; Giacomo Bonaventura, Erick Pulgar, Sofyan Amrabat, Jose Callejon; Franck Ribery, Dusan Vlahovic
Sassuolo were reduced to 10 men after 49 minutes but held on to beat Benevento 1-0 after a Domenico Berardi penalty after only eight minutes. Domenico Berardi opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the eighth minute. A cross from Maxime Lopez struck the hand of Alessandro Tuia and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Berardi smashed it into the top corner and Sassuolo took an early advantage against the newly-promoted side. Lukas Haraslin was sent off after 49 minutes, as he caught Gaetano Letizia’s ankle with his studs in a very late challenge. Benevento created chances for the remainder of the second half and Gianluca Lapadula thought he had equalized at the death, but Andrea Consigli was there to save the day with a fabulous save.
Roberto De Zerbi said Sassuolo are ‘suffering physically’ but added the Neroverdi ‘will soon go back to being brilliant’. Next up for Sassuolo is a game against Fiorentina in the midweek and De Zerbi said it’s important to recover and ‘improve’ against the Viola. “We need to improve our game on Wednesday in Florence. If we don’t go back to being the usual us, we will pay in the long run.''
Sassuolo has a considerable list of injuries to account for and will have to do without Vlad Chiriches, Filippo Romagna, Gregoire Defrel, and Francesco Caputo this weekend. Lukas Haraslin was sent off against Benevento and is suspended for this fixture.
Sassuolo (4-2-3-1): Andrea Consigli; Giorgos Kyriakopoulos, Gian Marco Ferrari, Marlon Santos, Jeremy Toljan; Maxime Lopez, Manuel Locatelli; Jeremie Boga, Mehdi Bourabia, Domenico Berardi; Giacomo Raspadori

Fiorentina had their ups and downs during recent years, but they had big plans for this season and after they sacked Iachini they thought that is enough to turn the season around. Sassuolo lost their flow but they adjusted well to play more defensive football and they must be favorites to win the next match.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
