Nico Gonzalez and Silas Wamangituka return from suspension to bolster VfB Stuttgart attacking options on travel to Freiburg on Saturday afternoon.
There is precious little separating Freiburg from Saturday's visitors to the Schwarzwald-Stadion the Black Forest club in ninth, one place and two points better off than Stuttgart after the Hinrunde. Freiburg's form has been positive in recent weeks, and they were only Keven Schlotterbeck's own-goal away from claiming their third win in four games in their 2-2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.
Ermedin Demirovic has been given the nod ahead of Nils Petersen at the point of Freiburg's attack in recent weeks, but the club's record scorer brought up his 94th goal against Frankfurt having come off the bench and could start should Christian Streich needs fresh legs. The coach is still sweating on the fitness of first-choice right wing-back Jonathan Schmid, so Lukas Kübler could continue in his stead. What looked like a chasm in central midfield is already closing, meanwhile, with Nicolas Höfler returning from suspension and Baptiste Santamaria having shaken off a knee complaint.
Freiburg: Müller - Lienhart, Schlotterbeck, Gulde - Kübler, Santamaria, Höfler, Günter (c) - Sallai, Demirovic, Grifo
Out: Flekken (elbow), Kwon (knee)
Doubtful: Abrashi (knock), Schmid (thigh)
Coach: Christian Streich
Whoever lines up for Freiburg will need to be on their toes against Silas and Gonzalez. The pair have combined for 15 Stuttgart goals this season, as well as five assists, making them comfortably the most prolific attackers coach Pellegrino Matarazzo has at his disposal. The duo had also previously picked up an unwanted team-high of five yellow cards apiece, however, and missed Wednesday's disappointing 3-0 loss to Arminia Bielefeld - the team who joined them in winning promotion from Bundesliga 2 last season.
Sasa Kalajdzic leads the line in midweek with Tanguy Coulibaly marshaling the right flank, but both should make way on Saturday. Club captain Gonzalo Castro is also likely to come back into the side, while Arsenal-owned Konstantinos Mavropanos is pushing Pascal Stenzel for a place on the right-hand side of Stuttgart's three-man defense.
Stuttgart: Kobel - Stenzel, Anton, Kempf - Silas, Mangala, Endo, Sosa - Castro (c), Didavi - Gonzalez
Out: Al Ghaddioui (pelvis), Awoudja (Achilles tendon), Mola (hip)
Doubtful: -
Coach: Pellegrino Matarazzo

Even with defeat against Bayern and draw vs Eintracht, Freiburg has the third-best form in the Bundesliga, with just that two teams above them. They should be favorites to win this game, but both teams to score is the most reasonable bet.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
