FULHAM VS BURNLEY MATCH ANALYSIS
This FA Cup Round 4 tie sees the two PL teams currently sitting 17th and 18th in the standings, lock horns at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon. The Premier League clash between Fulham and Burnley which was supposed to be their first fixture of 2021 was postponed due to a spate of positive coronavirus cases at Craven Cottage. This will therefore be the first time these clubs meet this season, with neither team having a particularly successful campaign so far.
The hosts are simply not getting the points their performances deserve, which must be a cause for concern for Scott Parker. Their only win in nine was against QPR in the last round of the FA Cup and even that required an extra-time. Both sets of supporters will surely be hoping for a good cup run to bring back some positivity. Fulham’s defensive record has been a real source of encouragement in recent matches, with the Whites conceding six goals in the eight games after midweek’s clash with Man Utd.
That run included impressive 1-1 draws against title-chasing Liverpool and Tottenham, as well as a 2-0 win away to Queens Park Rangers in the third round of the FA Cup. One to watch in the capital city team will be Bobby De Cordova-Reid, who is Fulham’s top scorer so far this season, and bagged the opener in the last round of the cup against QPR. He should be fresh after sitting out Wednesday’s game against Man Utd due to suspension.
Burnley, on the other hand, are rejuvenated after dealing Liverpool their first home league defeat (1-0) since April 2017. However, the Clarets have progressed from just one of their last ten FA Cup ties against PL opposition, doing so against the eventually relegated Sunderland team in season 2016/17. Burnley, though, have an upper hand in FA Cup head-to-heads against the Cottagers, knocking them out in each of their last five ties.
Burnley beat Milton Keynes Dons on penalties to book their place in this round, a game which was a part of a run of only one defeat in seven games at the time. That defeat came against Leeds in controversial circumstances, although Burnley lost 1-0 to both Man Utd and West Ham prior to their Thursday’s trip to Anfield. Burnley have also won on just one of their last 11 competitive visits to Craven Cottage (W1, D2, L8), and considering Fulham’s extra day of rest ahead of this game, the hosts are slight favourites.

Fulham are down in the relegation zone, while Burnley are hovering just above it. There are some signs that each club has what it takes to beat the drop though. The Cottagers have proven tough to beat in recent weeks following a nightmare start, while the Clarets have also enjoyed some positive results of late after a poor start of their own.
The big question coming into this game is whether Scott Parker and Sean Dyche are prepared to name their strongest line-ups in the face of a relegation dogfight to try and preserve their top-flight status as we enter the second half of the season.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
