Fulham host Chelsea at the Craven Cottage (London) in the 19th round of the Premier League and the match kicks off at 8 pm (UK) on Friday, January 15.
FULHAM VS CHELSEA MATCH ANALYSIS
After four consecutive draws in the league, they haven’t played a PL match due to coronavirus measures since they shared the spoils with Southampton at home on December 26. They are still in 18th place with 11 points, three short of Brighton and safety. The Cottagers did, however, play a FA Cup tie against the local Championship rivals QPR and won 2-0 at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium last Saturday. As for Chelsea, the Blues come into this match on the back of a 1-3 defeat against Man City at home on January 3 and a 4-0 Fa Cup R3 win against a League Two outfits Morecambe. Another poor result here and the pressure will crank up a notch on Frank Lampard as the Blues have fallen out of the top-four and are in 9th place with 26 points.
Fulham entered 2021 in the bottom three regardless of their slightly improved but still disappointing December form (D4, L1). The last season's play-off winners in the Championship have been exposed for all their shortcomings and weaknesses so far in the league and will have to raise their game significantly in the new calendar year if they want to avoid relegation. If their attackers could step up their game, they could start with a win here and start a new calendar year on a more positive note. The Cottagers are unbeaten in four in the league, drawing all four, but have won only one of their seven away games in England's top tier this term. Scott Parker's side have improved, especially at the back, but they still can't win games - which is why they are still in the bottom three. Fa Cup win was an encouraging sign and will give them confidence that they could do well against another London rival.
Chelsea, on the other hand, will look to make more progress in 2021 after their confidence has been dented by the poor run of results at the end of 2020. However, if you look at the numbers, the Blues have been actually been one of the most improved home teams in the league. They have averaged 2.25 points per home game played in 2020, in contrast to 1.32 in 2019. It is their away form, which is more worrying as they have lost three on the trot on the road. Chelsea began the month with a 17-match unbeaten run in all competitions and after their Festive dip, the spotlight is again on the west London club to deliver against Fulham and end the barren run away from home. Lampard admitted his side were going through a "tough spell" after being frustrated by Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge and based on the performance against injury and coronavirus-stricken Man City, that barren spell seems unlikely to end any time soon.

Relegation-threatened Fulham approach this West London derby seeking their first triumph over Chelsea since March 2006, with a dismal competitive H2H record since (D7, L12). They have lost their last three home clashes vs the ‘Blues’ in succession. They are unbeaten in five matches in all competitions, including their extra-time FA Cup win over QPR last weekend.
On the other hand, a return of just one victory in six league games (W1, D1, L4) has severely dented Chelsea’s title hopes. Yet, their status as comfortable pre-match favourites hasn’t changed. Of course, Lampard will talk of transition, of new players needing time to settle in new surroundings. He will want all expectations to be viewed through that prism - but this is Chelsea, and Lampard knows the score better than anyone.

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
