FULHAM VS
EVERTON MATCH ANALYSIS
The
Cottagers once again do not seem to be competitive at the Premier League level.
Fulham made a slow start to the season as they fell to their 6th defeat in
eight games against West Ham (1-0) on November 7. The Cottagers are 17th in the
standings with 4 points from their only win since promotion against another
new-comers West Brom (2-0) and a draw with Sheffield Utd (1-1). As for Everton,
their unbeaten run of 5 games came to an end (W4-D1) at
Southampton (2-0) in the sixth week of the Premier League and they followed it
with two more defeats as they fell to 7th place with 13 points from
first five weeks.
Fulham, the
last season's play-off winners in the Championship were exposed in the first eight
matches for all their shortcomings and weaknesses, and they will have to raise
their game significantly if they want to avoid the drop. The Cottagers have
made their worst ever start to a top-flight season after the first six games
(D1 L5) , but with a win in round 7 (2-0 against West Brom), they had avoided
their worst run of games at Craven Cottage since August 2013. However, they got
back to losing ways immediately as they suffered their 3rd away defeat.
However,
they could have snatched a last-minute draw, but Ademola Lookman missed a Panenka-style penalty with the last kick of the
game that left manager Scott Parker disgusted. Nevertheless, their last two
matches have seen significant signs of improvement. They were good value for
their win against West Brom and they withstood some early pressure in West Ham
game that previously might have seen them succumb. They still have a long way to
go to safety, and points against the Toffees would be an encouragement for the
future.
Everton on the other hand, have lost three games on the trot and after
topping the league for a couple of weeks have fallen down the table. It also
means that the Toffees have now lost three consecutive league games for the
first time since Ancelotti was appointed at Everton. They have also shipped two
or more goals in their last five PL fixtures, which is untypical of Ancelotti’s
sides.
Against Manchester Utd (1-3) before the break, they started brightly and
took the lead but were unable to hold to it as Bruno Fernandez’s brace in the
span of seven minutes changed the course of the match. Victory for Everton
would have taken them to the top of the table, but they struggled to break down
United after their opener and were thankful to Pickford who returned to the
side and made several saves. The Toffees have had time to dwell on their recent
form or the lack of it, and will look to get back on the winning ways when
they visit London on Sunday.

Fulham were victorious in their last Premier League match against Everton (2-0 in April 2019), ending a run of 10 league games without a win against the Toffees (D2 L8), but
Everton have lost their last three Premier League matches, as many as they had in their previous 14. The Toffees last lost four in a row in October 2019 under Marco Silva.
Also, an interesting fact is that Everton have now won their last two Premier League games in London, as many as they had in their previous 26 such games (W2 D11 L13).
Fulham vs Everton fixtures have seen the highest percentage of home wins, with 23 of the 28 meetings between the two being won by the home side (82%).

Tucker grew up in London, more precisely in West London. But, unlike many locals, he doesn’t like big and famous teams from that part of the city. Instead, ever since he was a kid, Tucker was passionate for lower divisions. This passion was born when his uncle from Reading took him to the local derby with Aldershot Town when he was 6 and since that moment football was running through his veins. He became a huge fan of the Royals for life, and whenever he could, he goes to Madejski Stadium to enjoy the game. Apart from being a job, his sports knowledge also becomes more than useful when he is betting live on high stakes which is also his passion.
