Atalanta remains on course for a best-ever league finish after back-to-back wins and with the win in Genoa, they will claim a place in the UEFA Champions League for the next season. Read our Genoa vs Atalanta prediction and betting tips.
Genoa is mathematically safe from the threat of relegation after a 2-0 victory at the Stadio Dall’Ara vs Bologna. The hosts were already safe from the drop, but the Grifone still needed another boost to be sure. Takehiro Tomiyasu should’ve given Bologna the early lead, but he seemed surprised by Danilo’s scuffed effort on a corner and only clipped the upright from point-blank range. Moments later, Genoa went in front when Davide Zappacosta cut inside and unleashed a right-foot screamer into the far top corner, aided by a slight deflection off Tomiyasu.
Mattia Perin made an acrobatic save on Riccardo Orsolini’s header, then Gianluca Scamacca really should’ve done better one-on-one after making the most of an Adama Soumaoro slip. Milan Badelj went off injured for the visitors, while Valon Behrami made a desperate block to prevent Rodrigo Palacio tapping in an Orsolini assist. Roberto Soriano also had a double chance, the first charged down, the second flashing wide. Danilo handled the ball on a cross and Genoa received a penalty on the hour mark, which Scamacca converted to double their lead.
Genoa: Perin; Goldaniga, Zapata, Masiello; Zappacosta, Zajc, Badelj, Strootman, Ghiglione; Scamacca, Shomurodov
If Atalanta and Milan win their games this weekend – against Genoa and Cagliari respectively – then both of those teams have already booked their spots in the Champions League. That’s because they both have a superior head-to-head record with Juve. Gian Piero Gasperini believes Atalanta ‘have done nothing yet’ and warns his players not to give anything for granted. La Dea needs a win in the last two games to qualify for the Champions League for the third season in a row. “We just need to understand against who we can win,” the coach told the media after their 2-0 win over Benevento.
La Dea faces Genoa away on Saturday before hosting Milan in the final game of the season. In the middle, they have the Coppa Italia Final against Juventus. “We are responsible for our destiny. We must keep our feet grounded because we’ve done nothing yet," Gasperini continued. “We have two league games and the Coppa Italia Final. We have played many matches, but the strength of this team is to take one step at a time. “Nothing can be taken for granted in Serie A. We must focus on our games, this week, we’ll have three. “We are fighting, we are in the race with Milan, Napoli, and Juventus for a top-four finish, and only one won’t reach the target. Anything can still happen.”
Atalanta: Gollini; Hateboer, Romero, Palomino, Gosens; De Roon, Freuler; Malinovskyi, Pasalic, Muriel; Zapata

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
