Milan travels to struggling Genoa looking to bounce to the winning ways and keep league-leading position despite a busy schedule.
Genoa has won just 1 of their 11 games this season and could get demoted to the last spot on the points table if Crotone wins this week, as the home side for Wednesday is just 1 point ahead of 20th placed Crotone. Coach Rolando Maran insists Genoa ‘are on the right track’ after making life difficult for Juventus until a late 3-1 capitulation. The Grifone had held out well for the entire first half, then bit back against Paulo Dybala with a Stefano Sturaro equalizer, but the two late Cristiano Ronaldo penalties ultimately decided the 3-1 result. The fixture list isn’t very kind to Genoa either, as they are up against Serie A leaders Milan in the midweek round on Wednesday.
Genoa has a severely depleted squad going into this game and will have to do without Davide Zappacosta, Cristian Zapata, Francesco Cassata, and Domenico Criscito in this game. The Genovese outfit has endured a miserable season and has to be at its best this week.
Genoa (4-4-2): Federico Marchetti; Andrea Masiello, Mattia Bani, Edoardo Goldaniga, Paolo Ghiglione; Luca Pellegrini, Stefano Sturaro, Milan Badelj, Lukas Lerager; Gianluca Scamacca, Eldor Shomurodov
Stefano Pioli admits Milan were ‘a little sluggish’ to begin with, but deserve credit for fighting back from 2-0 down to hold Parma. 'This is a team with heart and desire.' The Rossoneri genuinely feared they would suffer their first Serie A defeat since March, especially as they hit the woodwork four times – three of them with Hakan Calhanoglu.
Milan fought back from 2-0 down to hold Parma 2-2, but on top of the four goals, the Rossoneri also rattled the woodwork on another four occasions. The Ducali put on a masterclass of clinical finishing, scoring their only two real attempts on target with Gervinho on the counter setting up Hernani and Jasmin Kurtic running from deep to nod in a cross. The hosts thought their luck was out, especially Hakan Calhanoglu, who hit the frame of the goal three times by himself along with a Brahim Diaz curler. Theo Hernandez finally got them back into it and completed the first brace of his professional career in stoppages to keep his team unbeaten in Serie A since March.
Mateo Musacchio is currently injured and will not play a part in this game. AC Milan talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic was involved in the Rossoneri's training sessions this week but is unlikely to be risked against Genoa. AC Milan endured a difficult outing against Parma and is likely to rest some of their key players for this match.
AC Milan (4-2-3-1): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Theo Hernandez, Alessio Romagnoli, Simon Kjaer, Diogo Dalot; Sandro Tonali, Ismael Bennacer; Jens Petter Hauge, Hakan Calhanoglu, Alexis Saelemaekers; Rafael Leao

Genoa played a decent game against Juventus but they lacked defensive focus when mattered the most. Milan could finish this game just like the team from Torino and an away win is a nice betting option.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
