Genoa plays host to Spal on Saturday evening knowing that they need to end their winless streak as soon as possible in order to retain hope of remaining in Serie A. Especially because Spal is only behind them on the table.
Genoa fought back from two goals down as they earned a draw with Brescia to move a point away from the relegation zone but they face a new task to try and build on that as they host Spal. Genoa could have done with all hands on deck to give them the best possible chance of causing an upset in this clash but they will be with Ivan Radovanovic and Domenico Criscito. That will be a difficult pill to swallow for Genoa but they have the chance to respond against bottom side SPAL.
With just one win in their last 11 Serie A matches, SPAL are running out of time to pull themselves out of trouble and to make matters harder for them in their bid to earn a rare victory, they will be without the suspended Thiago Cionek for this contest. SPAL were unable to build on their shock draw with AC Milan as they were on the end of a 3-0 loss against Sampdoria.
Genoa vs Spal Key Facts:
Spal was not able to win one out of the last 10 home matches.
Genoa has scored at least one goal in the last 9 matches.
Genoa has lost the last 3 home matches.

For Genoa, there aren’t many selection issues, with just the sole fitness concern for the Genoa boss Davide Nicola to be concerned with thanks to an otherwise robust squad. Ivan Radovanovic (Cruciate Ligament Rupture) will miss out. SPAL manager Luigi Di Biagio has a number of players out of action. Mohamed Fares, Federico Di Francesco, Mattia Valoti, Ervin Zukanovic, and Etrit Berisha are names that won’t be on the team sheet. Thiago Cionek cannot play in this game through suspension.
Spal and their traveling fans will hope for a better result here. We’re therefore anticipating a hard-fought contest, finishing with a 1-0 victory for Genoa.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
