Spain makes the long journey to Tbilisi to take three points from Georgia in the 2nd round of World Cup qualification fixtures. Read our reasons for Georgia vs Spain prediction and betting tips.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic provided an assist on his Sweden comeback after five years. Milan veteran Ibrahimovic made his return to international duty at the age of 39 and made an immediate impact, as he controlled and acrobatically flicked down the ball for Viktor Claesson. That proved to be the only goal of their 1-0 win over Georgia, but Ibrahimovic played for 84 minutes in a match where Georgia didn’t have any serious chances to score. That was the third time in five games that they’ve failed to score and now they have three losses in the last five matches. The hosts haven’t shown much prowess in attack, scoring more than a goal in just one of their last 14 matches, but they are solid defensively, in the same amount of games, they’ve let in two goals in just four matches. They are far from reaching some heights regarding these qualifiers, as they have just one win in seven home matches. Georgia also has clean sheets in five of their last eight home games, including against Denmark and Ireland. In their last 18 World Cup qualification matches, Georgia has no win, just 11 losses and they’ve failed to score in the last three. They’ve conceded more than a goal in just two of their last 10 World Cup qualification matches. It is reasonable to believe that against higher-ranked rivals they are trying more to have a minimal loss than to make a major surprise.
Georgia did not pick up any injury problems during their clash with Sweden on Thursday, meaning that Sagnol will have the same squad to choose from for this match. There are not expected to be any changes to the starting XI against Spain, with Giorgi Kvilitaia, who has scored five times in 26 appearances for his national side, likely to lead the line once again. Jaba Kankava is the captain and leading goalscorer in the squad with 10 goals, and the 35-year-old should again line up as part of a two-man midfield alongside Giorgi Aburjania.
Georgia: Loria; Chabradze, Kashia, Dvali, Giorbelidze; Kankava, Aburjania; Lobzhanidze, Kvekveskiri, Kvaratskhelia; Kvilitaia
Juve striker Morata was on target in Spain’s surprise 1-1 draw, as Greece scored with their only shot on target – a penalty. They were frustrated by Greece at home and will be hoping to restart their qualification campaign with a win in Georgia. In the first half, they were a better team but scored just one goal after Morata once again proved his quality in the penalty box. They were more modest in the second half as they made a mistake before conceding from the penalty spot. Inigo Martinez, who substituted Sergio Ramos at half-time misjudged one tackle and visitors punished them from the spot. Coach Luis Enrique was frustrated by the attitude of his players, trying to provoke them to find a path to much easier victories. They haven’t won a lot lately, but Spain has just one loss in the last 20 matches; that loss, against Ukraine, came in the Nations League, and they have just one clean sheet in the last five matches. Spain has no win in the last seven away matches but they have just one loss in the last 10 away matches. They will have to work on the defense with just two clean sheets in the last 10 away matches. In their last 10, World Cup qualification matches Spain has managed eight wins. They’ve scored 14 goals in five away matches in the qualifiers, conceding two and keeping three clean sheets.
Sergio Ramos only played 45 minutes against Greece, but Enrique revealed that it was agreed before the match that the Real Madrid center-back would only feature in the first half. Ramos should therefore retain his spot in the side for this match, while Marcos Llorente could again get the nod at right-back, with Dani Carvajal and Sergi Roberto both absent through injury. Morata's goal against Greece should see the 28-year-old retain his spot in attack, while Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres could again feature in the wide areas, leaving Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedri on the bench. Jordi Alba is pushing for a spot at left-back and could be given the nod over Jose Gaya, but the likes of Sergio Busquets and David de Gea should remain on the bench.
Spain: Simon; Llorente, Garcia, Ramos, Alba; Torres, Koke, Rodri, Canales, Olmo; Morata

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
