Germany will try to beat Ukraine for the second time inside the space of a month when the teams meet at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig.
Germany remains unbeaten in Nations League A Group 4 after four rounds, but Die Mannschaft will be desperate to record just their second victory of the campaign in the match with the team they already beat a month ago. With three draws in four games so far, their solitary triumph came in with their first encounter on Ukrainian soil. Joachim Lowe’s squad must be confident that they can complete the double over their Group 4 rivals on Saturday because the main stars of the team are in the good form and their recent goal-scoring record on the home pitch suggests the hosts can win three points in style.
Germany began their campaign in September with consecutive 1-1 draw against Spain and Switzerland before claiming their first victory last month over Ukraine 2-1 through goals from Matthias Ginter and Leon Goretzka. The 2014 World Cup winners were then held to their third draw by Switzerland as they played out a 3-3 thriller. Germany returned to action on Wednesday evening against the Czech Republic in a friendly and came out 1-0 winners and will be hoping to pick another victory here to improve on their position behind Spain who have seven points so far. Benfica striker Luca Waldschmidt scored his second goal for his country with a back three of Jonathan Tah, Robin Koch, and Antonio Rudiger keeping their opponents without chances to score.
Central defender Niklas Sule has joined up with the squad having served his self-isolation period after testing positive for coronavirus, while the contingent of Champions League players who were rested in Wednesday's friendly should return to action against Ukraine. Midfielder Jonas Hofmann reportedly injured his thigh in Wednesday's friendly and is likely to miss out, with Robin Gosens (calf) and Benjamin Henrichs (patella tendon) both doubts.
Germany (4-3-2-1): Manuel Neuer; Matthias Ginter, Niklas Sule, Antonio Rudiger, Nico Schulz; Toni Kroos, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka; Serge Gnabry, Kai Havertz; Timo Werner
Ukraine is level on points with their hosts coming into this contest having picked up two wins so far. A 2-1 win over Switzerland was the ideal start for Andriy Shevchenko’s side but successive defeats to Spain (4-0) and Germany (2-1) stopped their progress. They made a huge surprise with a well-deserved three points by beating Spain 1-0 last month with Viktor Tsigankov's 76th-minute winner enough to end Spain's 16-match unbeaten run. Defeat to Poland, 2-0, in midweek wasn’t the return to action they would have liked but none the less the away side will feel they more than enough to cause the Germans one or two problems.
Ukraine has been managed by their record goalscorer and legendary figure Andriy Shevchenko since July 2016, with the former AC Milan and Chelsea striker leading his nation to next summer's European Championships after impressively finishing ahead of Portugal and Serbia in qualifying. The AC Milan legend is likely to stick with the same XI that defeated Spain, although Oleksandr Zinchenko may replace Mykola Shaparenko in the middle of the park.
Veteran winger Yevhen Konoplyanka was not called up by Shevchenko for Ukraine, meanwhile, with vice-captain Yarmolenko and Oleksandr Zubkov preferred in the attacking wide areas. Oleksandr Zinchenko generally features in central midfield to great effect for his country despite being deployed as a left-back by Pep Guardiola for his club Manchester City.
Ukraine (4-3-3): George Bushchan; Oleksandr Karavaev, Illia Zabarnyi, Vitaliy Mykolenko, Eduard Sobol; Serhiy Sydorchuk, Evgen Makarenko, Oleksandr Zinchenko; Andriy Yarmolenko, Roman Yaremchuk, Oleksandr Zubkov

Germany should be the favorite to win this match but Ukraine showed against Spain that they are capable to make surprises on this level. Both teams to score looks like a decent bet with both teams eager to chase three points from this match.

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
