There will be no first meeting of Khedira brothers Rani and Sami on Saturday, with Hertha Berlin's midfield talisman injured for the visit of Augsburg. Read our reasons for Hertha vs Augsburg prediction and betting tips.
It's not been the immediate impact Sami Khedira was hoping for from his return to the Bundesliga after more than 10 years away. Hertha suffered their sixth defeat in seven games in their 2-0 loss at Wolfsburg last Saturday, and he picked up a calf injury in the process. The Old Lady is level on points with Arminia Bielefeld, who only occupy the relegation/promotion play-off spot on goal difference. With games against Europe-chasing Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen to come, this could be Hertha's best chance to clinch a rare victory. Head coach Pal Dardai is set to stick with son Marton in the capital club's defense alongside Niklas Stark, with Dedryck Boyata still sidelined with a foot injury.
Matheus Cunha is a doubt for Hertha, though, and Dardai may need to reshuffle his attack in his absence. Cunha netted one of his six Bundesliga goals this season in the reverse fixture but is currently 13 without scoring. Luckily, John Cordoba is back fit and available having come off the bench at Wolfsburg and he could earn a start. Matteo Guendouzi is pushing for a recall in Khedira's absence.
Hertha: Jarstein - Klünter, Stark (c), M. Dardai - Zeefuik, Tousart, Guendouzi, Mittelstädt - Dairida - Piatek, Cordoba
Out: Boyata (foot), Cunha (thigh), Khedira (calf), Radonjic (groin)
Doubtful: Dilrosun (knee), Leckie (thigh)
Coach: Pal Dardai
Brother Rani is set to start for an Augsburg side full of confidence coming into their trip to the German capital. Rani Khedira is six years younger than Sami. He's made 227 appearances across Germany's top three divisions to date. His brother's 303 professional league outings have been spread over stints in the Bundesliga, La Liga and Serie A. Heiko Herrlich's side edged a hard-fought battle with Mainz last Sunday thanks to Andre Hahn's goal, which has seen them climb eight points clear of the play-off spot which could be occupied by Hertha come to the end of the weekend's action.
It's unlikely that Herrlich will want to change from the side which kept a clean sheet for just the second time since the turn of the year in the 1-0 win at Mainz. Fredrik Jensen is working his way back to fitness, while Ruben Vargas and Marco Richter provide attacking alternatives should Herrlich feel a need to plan differently at the Olympiastadion. Caligiuri has contributed a team-high eight Bundesliga goals for Augsburg this season, albeit only one across his last 11 games.
Augsburg: Gikiewicz - Framberger, Gouweleeuw (c), Uduokhai, Pedersen - Strobl, Khedira - Caligiuri, Benes, Hahn - Niederlechner
Out: Finnbogason (calf), Iago (ankle)
Doubtful: Civeja (knee), Jensen (thigh)
Coach: Heiko Herrlich

Daniel Garcia is originally from Basque Country, and as a kid who grew up just a few streets from Mendizorrotza Stadium, the choice of Deportivo Alavés as his favourite club is more than obvious. Because of his studies, he moved to Madrid where he graduated in Sports Journalism. Daniel plays football on the weekends, but that does not stop him from watching all La Liga matches. He believes that the outcome of a match can be predicted if all the parameters are analyzed well, including form of the players and weather conditions. Currently he is living in Belgrade, and is in love with a Serbian girl who works as a journalist at one of the famous Sport Channels in Serbia.
